Matthew Daniel Schiedel

U.S. VeteranMatthew Daniel Schiedel - 54, of Lansdale, PA entered into glory on Thursday, March 29, 2012 at his residence.

He was the loving husband for 35 years to Sheila D. Schiedel.

He was born in Philadelphia to the late Clarence William Schiedel and to Carolyn (Radcliffe) Sauers.

Matthew graduated from North Penn High School, class of 1975. He served in the US Army as a helicopter pilot in the 2nd of the 10th Calvary and a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne. Matthew was a devoted husband, caring father and loving grandfather.

He was an avid writer and reader who enjoyed playing tennis and golf. Matthew loved cooking and enjoyed the company of animals especially birds. He also loved the sunshine and the beach.

Matthew was a scholar of "The Word" and Hebrew studies and achieved a Master's Degree from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. He also earned a Doctorate of Survival from the School of Hard Knocks.

Matthew was a member of Family Worship Center.

In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by: his three daughters; Abbe Fahem & husband, Steve of Lansdale, PA, Julie A. Carter of Lansdale, PA and Lucy Derstine & husband, Michael of Harleysville, PA; his son, Dietrich O. Carter of Lansdale, PA; his sister, Alison Dittmar & husband, Joseph of Lansdale, PA; 6 Grandchildren - Callahan, Aidan, Ryan, Maslin, Wesley & Elias and 4 nieces, Kathryn, Sandra, Ellen Nulf and Laura Kozdra & husband, Alex.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his brother, Mark D. Schiedel.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 6, 2012 at 11:00 am at Family Worship Center, 1000 Troxel Road, Lansdale, Pennsylvania 19446 where friends may view and meet with the family from 9:00 AM – 11:00 AM.

Burial will take place at Hillside Cemetery at Roslyn.
