Abram "Abe" O. Kulp , 97, of Sellersville, PA; formerly of Shawnee-on-Delaware, PA, Front Royal, VA, Middle Smithfield, PA, Middletown, NY, Genoa, IL & Perkasie, PA, went home to be with his Lord on Wednesday, January 22, 2025 at The Community at Rockhill.
Abe was the loving husband of the late Margaret (Clinton) Kulp for 66 years. He was born in Ottsville, PA to the late Hiram R. Kulp and the late Esther Ellen (Overholt) Kulp.
Abe graduated from Doylestown High School, class of 1945. He served as a radio operator in the United States Army-Air Corps post WWII being discharged as a Corporal. He later attended Lansdale Business School.
Abe worked as a mechanic for the former Worthington Mower in Delaware Water Gap, PA. He then worked as an equipment salesman for the former J.I. Case Equipment in Winchester, VA, for the former Van D. Yetter Equipment Sales in Marshalls Creek, PA, and lastly for the former John Bean Division of the FMC Corporation for 33 years.
Abe was a member of Hilltown Baptist Church in Chalfont, PA. He was a member of Grundsow Lodsch Nummer Neine an der Dief Runn in Dublin, PA. He also belonged to the Kolb, Kulp, Culp Family Association https://kolb-kulp-culp.org.
Abe loved spending time with his grandchildren and working on projects in his shed. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, raccoon hunting, walking, camping, and traveling in retirement with his wife. He was a voracious reader. He enjoyed studying the Bible and had many opportunities to serve his Savior as lay preacher and Sunday School teacher.
Abe was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He possessed a unique sense of humor and was well known for his witticisms. He was regarded as a thoughtful, kindhearted, dignified man, was very generous to his children, always had a smile, and was respected by his peers.
Abe is survived by his son, H. Robert "Bob" Kulp & wife, Linda of Lancaster, PA; his daughter, Esther Jane Kulp of Telford, PA; his two granddaughters, Ashley Elizabeth Kulp-Grutta & husband, Christopher Grutta of Danvers, MA, Megan Elise Childs & husband, Kevin of Lancaster, PA; his two great-grandsons, Luke Daniel Childs & Logan James Childs, both of Lancaster, PA; and his two great-granddaughters, Kieva Elise Childs of Lancaster, PA, Elizabeth Lenore Grutta of Danvers, MA., and his first cousin Doris Lee of Doylestown, PA.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Caroline Paula Kulp; and his three brothers, Winfred O., Paul O., & Joseph "Joe" O. Kulp.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, February 15, 2025 from 9:00 am – 10:30 am at Hilltown Baptist Church, 26 Upper Church Road, Chalfont, PA 18914, followed by a memorial service at 10:30 am.
An extended instrumental and vocal prelude will begin at 9:50 am
A private burial will take place at Hilltown Baptist Church Cemetery.
