Obituary

Albert E. Rice , 98, of Pipersville, PA went home to be with the Lord on October 29, 2024, at Doylestown Hospital.

He was the loving husband of Miriam (Detweiler) Rice for 69 years. Al was born at home on the family farm in Bedminster Twp., PA to the late Mahlon Rice and the late Maggie (Erb) Rice.

Al was self-employed as a Commission Merchant to Philadelphia for 40 years. He raised chickens and produce on the farm which he sold door to door to customers weekly.

Al's faith was very important to him. He was a life member and the oldest living member of Deep Run East Mennonite Church where he formerly served as a Sunday school teacher and a trustee. He also was involved in the Bristol Mennonite Church in Bristol, PA.

Al enjoyed the outdoors – his garden, hunting and spending time at the cabin (Hidden Acres) in Bradford County, along with family & friends. He also enjoyed reading, especially in his later years. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather and loved spending time with his family.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Glenda Wismer & husband, Glenn of Perkasie, PA; his son, David Rice & wife, Kelli of Pipersville, PA; his granddaughter, Amanda Wismer of Perkasie, PA; his three grandsons, Jacob Wismer & wife, Rebecca of Perkasie, PA, Zach Rice of Pipersville, PA, Ty Rice & wife, Susanna of Pipersville, PA; his great-grandchildren, Hannah, Sarah, & Miles Wismer of Perkasie, PA.; and his sister-in-law, Suzanne V. Rice of Sellersville, PA.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his infant son, Donald A. Rice and his six siblings, Norman E. Rice, Walter E. Rice, Margaret E. Hinkle, Kathryn R. Rush, Harold W. Rice, and Robert E. Rice.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his visitation on Saturday, November 9, 2024, from 9:00 am - 11:00 am at Deep Run East Mennonite Church, 350 Kellers Church Road, Perkasie, PA 18944, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 am. The service will be Livestreamed.

Burial will take place at Deep Run East Mennonite Church Cemetery.
