Alfred "Al" Merle Michener , 84, of Sellersville, PA; formerly of Revere, PA entered into rest unexpectedly on Memorial Day, Monday, May 30, 2022, at Pennsburg Manor.

Alfred was born in Plumstead Twp., PA to the late Theodore Earle Michener and the late Ruth Gretchen (Atherton) Michener. He graduated from Palisades High School in Kintnersville, PA, class of 1955.

During his more than three decades in the United States Army, Alfred earned numerous honors for his service, bravery, and sacrifice—including three bronze stars while serving honorably in the Vietnam war. He achieved the rank of Command Sergeant Major. He also earned medals for: Expert M-16 rifle, Good Conduct Medal (08th Award), Army Commendation Medal (01st Oak Leaf Cluster), National Defense Service Medal, NCO Professional Development Ribbon w/s, Overseas Service Ribbon w/2, 4 Overseas Service bars, Army Achievement Medal, Vietnam Service Medal w/ 7 SVC stars, Expert Infantry Badge, Combat Infantry badge, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry w/Palm, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Meritorious Service Medal 1st Oak Leaf Cluster, and an Air Medal.

After retiring from the Army, Alfred pursued his second great passion – farming the family farm in Revere, PA. For many years, his family enjoyed his farm products and his grandchildren were raised on meat from the family farm. He loved country music and was an exceptional Polka dancer. Alfred was a member of the VFW Post 3619 in De Ridder, Louisiana and a member of the Rod & Gun Club nationally.

Alfred is survived by a large number of relatives and friends, including his wife, Jaquline (Ross) Kunigus-Michener, his two stepsons Paul and Timothy Kunigus. He is survived by  his two daughters and their spouses with his first wife, Renate H. Michener; Angela R. Grier (J. Michael) and Bonnie R. Ransdell (Steven); his eight grandchildren and their spouses: Nathan (Viktoriya), Sarah (Christopher), Amanda (Scott), Candace (Benjamin), Aaron (Amanda), Karlie, Jared, and Aaron (Morgan); and ten great-grandchildren: Kirill, Nathan, Vitalina, Shelby, Matthew, Hannah, Luke, Lydia, Mason, and Zane. He is also survived by his siblings, Norma Ruth Fox, Joan May Caravetta, James Horace Michener, and Lester Theodore Michener.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his three brothers, Robert Earle Michener, Charles Leroy Michener, and Louis Oscar Michener and his grandson-in-law, Spencer Francisco.

A graveside military service and burial will be held on Monday, July 11, 2022 at 10 a.m. at Washington Crossing National Cemetery, 830 Highland Road, Newtown, Pennsylvania 18940.
