Alfred (Alfie) Daniel Sandström, 83, of Quakertown, PA, passed away Monday, July 24, 2023 at LifeQuest Nursing Center.
He was the loving husband of the late Bonnie (Linquist) Sandström for 38 years and the late Ruth Ann (Kiley) Sandström for 20 years. Alfie was born in Jönköping Sweden to the late Erik Sandström and the late Bernice Stroh Sandström.
Alfie graduated from Bryn Athyn High School as well as Bryn Athyn College, where he attended for 2 years, earning his associates degree. He was employed as a Senior Technical Writer for Raytheon Co., Bedford, MA.
He was a member of The New Church, Bryn Athyn, PA.
Throughout his life, Alfie was known to be an incredibly talented artist. He enjoyed painting using various materials including oil, acrylic and water color, and painted numerous different scenes from the New Testament as well as places that held personal value to him. He was an avid reader, especially of the science fiction genre, and was enthralled by astronomy. Alfie enjoyed spending time with his model trains and even built and flew his own RC airplanes.
He was known for his incredible sense of humor and childlike sense of wonder. Alfie will be remembered as a warm, kind and compassionate soul that was an independent, honest straight shooter. He always strived to make the world a better place wherever he went.
Alfie is survived by his two daughters, Wendy M. Sandstrom of Largo, FL, Linda S. Hill, and husband Stewart of Line Lexington, PA; his three grandsons, Gregory Rahmberg, Erik Rahmberg, and Jacob Hill; his granddaughter, Michaela Hill; his three sisters, Mary Cooper, and husband George, Elizabeth Buss, and husband Peter, Eva Lexie, and husband David; and his two brothers, Harald Sandström, and wife Gretchen, and Erik E. Sandström and wife Lynn-Del.
The family would like to offer a special thank you to the care team at LifeQuest Nursing Center of Quakertown as well as Caring Hospice Services for their expertise and for always showing Alfie the most incredible care and respect.
