Alyce (Moyer) Whitman , 89, of Palmyra, PA; formerly of Souderton, PA went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 19, 2023, in her apartment, at Traditions of Hershey.

Alyce was born in Souderton, PA to the late Jacob Warren Moyer and the late Esther (Keller) Moyer.

She graduated from Souderton Area High School, class of 1951. After high school graduation, Alyce was employed by the former U.S. Gauge in Sellersville, PA as an office worker. Alyce worked as a school bus driver for Hagey Transportation in Franconia for over 30 years. In addition, she worked as a waitress at the Towne Restaurant, Telford, which was owned by her brother at the time. Later, Alyce was a waitress for the Souderton Family Restaurant.

Alyce was a member of Emmanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in Souderton. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, as well as the Order of the Amaranth, both of Lansdale, PA.

She enjoyed music and singing, played the piano and organ, loved Polka music and all toe-tapping music. Alyce was very creative and enjoyed a variety of crafts over the years, painting, sewing, crocheting, knitting and ceramics just to name a few. She loved to make things and collect things. In her retirement years, she enjoyed reading and crossword puzzles.

Living in the Souderton community her entire life, Alyce enjoyed many enduring friendships that were very special to her. She was the founding member of "The Mama's Club," where her friends got together monthly for over 60 years. Alyce loved taking adventures to Lancaster County with various friends. She was an avid card player, enjoying games at SAAC, and with bus driver friends regularly. She lived on Mininger Road in Souderton for over 60 years alongside her lifelong friend and neighbors, the Poinsetts.

Annual family camping trips to Green Lane Park and Belleplain State Park, (NJ) were a highlight for Alyce as her children were growing up. Later, came the family reunions, where 4 generations of the Whitman Family gathered annually at her home, creating very special memories for all.

Alyce was a hardworking, fun loving, loyal woman who had a good sense of humor and loved to laugh with family and friends. Despite any challenges that came her way, she was known for a positive outlook on life. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

She is survived by her two daughters, Terri Twellman & husband, David of Belleville, MI, Lisa Whitman Bomgardner & husband, Clyde of Palmyra, PA; her daughter-in-law, Barbara Whitman of Orlando, FL; her nine grandchildren – Wendy Whitman Cobb & husband, Joshua of Millbrook, AL, Mary Askew & husband, Logan of Belleville, MI, Jennifer Hawkins & husband, Sean of Kissimmee, FL, David Twellman, Jr. & wife, Reinalyn of Sterling, VA, Timothy Patrick Whitman of Orlando, FL, Alyce Bomgardner of Palmyra, PA, Olivia Bomgardner of Madrid, Spain, Chas Bomgardner of Corpus Christi, TX, & Malachi Bomgardner of Palmyra, PA; her eight great-grandchildren – Adrianna, Isaiah, David III, Addison, Michael, Alivia, Austin, & Oliver; her niece, Tracy Moyer of Los Angeles, CA, and nephews Jason and Jed Moyer, and her great-niece, Rebecca Hartman & husband, Don of Pennsburg, PA.

In addition to her parents and former husband, Wesley I. Whitman, she was preceded in death by her son, Timothy Lee Whitman and her brother, Donald K. Moyer.

A private graveside service will be held at Hillside Cemetery in Souderton.
