Anna (Kühn) Branning , 87, of Sellersville, PA; formerly of Lansdale, PA went home to be with the Lord on Friday, March 14, 2025 at Grand View Hospital.
Anna was the loving wife of the late Walter B. Branning, Jr. for 47 years. She was born in Yugoslavia to her German parents, Matthias Kühn and Theresa (Rosanowitsch) Kühn.
Anna graduated from high school in Germany. She then graduated from business school in Karlsruhe, Germany. In October of 1955, at the age of 17, she immigrated alone to the United States by way of Ellis Island via the SS America. On the ship, she celebrated her 18th birthday.
Anna worked as a nanny for various local families in the Buckingham area. She then worked as a practical nurse and store manager for Mrs. Walsh who owned a local antique store in New Hope, PA. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.
Alongside her husband, she was a missionary in Cuenca, Spain from 1968-1972.
Anna was an avid reader of her Bible. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Anna enjoyed flower gardening and giving tours of her gardens. She loved listening to music and singing hymns. She enjoyed watching the Hallmark channel on TV. She loved the Christmas season and decorating for the holiday. She also enjoyed reading books, baking, and collecting seashells on various beaches.
Anna was a joyful and self-sacrificing servant to all. She was dignified, faithful and strong. She was a steadfast woman who was a rock of faith in Christ.
Anna is survived by her three sons, Timothy M. Branning of Sellersville, PA, Walter B. Branning III of Sellersville, PA, Daniel J. Branning of Palm, PA; her three daughters, Mary Anne O'Riordan of Pennsburg, PA, Dorcas G. DeTurk & husband, Kris of Sellersville, PA, Esther S. Worthington of East Greenville, PA; her seven granddaughters, Anna T. DeTurk of Sellersville, PA, Clarise P. DeTurk of Sellersville, PA, Ava O'Riordan of Pottstown, PA, Kassie O'Riordan of Perkasie, PA, Theresa O'Riordan of Pennsburg, PA, Skylar E. Worthington of Lakeland, FL, Nevaeh S. O'Shura of East Greenville, PA; her three grandsons, Kristian T. DeTurk of Sellersville, PA, Owen O'Riordan of Pennsburg, PA, Ethan O'Riordan of Pennsburg, PA; and sister, Irene Turke of Warminster, PA.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Matthew J. Branning; her sister, Mary Kühn; and her brother, Peter Kühn.
A viewing will be held on Friday, March 21, 2025 from 9:00 am - 11:00 am at Anders-Detweiler Funeral Home & Crematory, 130 E. Broad St., Souderton, PA 18964, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 am.
Burial will take place at Immanuel Leidy's Church Cemetery.
