Barry Edgar Hawk , 89, of Lansdale, PA; formerly of Conyngham, PA entered into rest on Sunday, January 15, 2023 at Harborview Rehab & Care Center.

Barry was the loving husband of the late Elaine Doris (Eckrote) Hawk for 56 years. He was born in Freeland, PA to the late Charles E. Hawk and the late Ester "Genevieve" (Faux) Hawk.

Barry graduated from West Hazleton High School, class of 1951. He attended Bucknell University and Penn State University, Hazleton Campus.

Barry served in the United States Army as a Transmission Identification Operator during the Korean War. He worked as a bank teller and later as a bank manager for People's First National Bank in Conyngham, PA. Barry then worked as a real estate agent for Bernstein Real Estate Agency, and after attaining his Real Estate Broker's license, he managed his own Real Estate Office, both located in Conyngham, Pa. In the mid to late 1970's, Barry was hired by Scranton New York Life Insurance Company as an insurance agent and earned outstanding achievement awards for his service.  Later, Barry was employed in the Hazleton District for Prudential Insurance and earned an award for Insurance Agent of the month in 1985. After a long, successful and diverse career, he ultimately retired from Prudential Insurance Company.

Barry was an active member of Conyngham United Methodist Church for much of his life where he served on the church council. He was also an active member of the Conyngham Valley Lions Club for many years. In 1978, Barry was awarded 'Man of the Year' by the Conyngham Valley Civic Organization during the Valley Day Ceremony. He served on the Conyngham Borough Council from 1963 to 1983 and was president for 7 years during that time. Barry also volunteered at the Conyngham Historical Society much later, after his retirement.

In the 1970s, he obtained his pilot license. His passion for the skies led him to skydiving as well, where he made the newspaper headlines when he skydived at the age of 79, 80, and 81. His dream was to skydive at least once more on his 90 ^th birthday. During the summer, Barry loved camping and water skiing while vacationing with the family and friends at Lake Wallenpaupack. While he had an adventurous spirit, he was also an avid reader and had a lifelong interest in photography. In school, Barry was nicknamed 'The Music Man' because of his great passion for music and gift for dancing. Later in life he enjoyed the local Big Band Society Dances and dearly loved watching Lawrence Welk on Saturday nights. Being a family man, Barry and his wife, Elaine, were recognized by Luzerne County Children and Youth Services for raising foster children in their home for over 16 years. Barry was a very kind, adventurous, and sociable man who had a good sense of humor and a very positive attitude.

He is survived by his long-time companion, Kathy Hill, of Conyngham, PA; his four children, Deborah L. Rusk & husband, Laurel "Sonny" of Myrtle Beach, SC, Roxane R. D'Aprile & husband, Gary of Perkasie, PA, Dana B. Hawk & companion, Pamela Jenkins of Boalsburg, PA, Julie Bergen & husband, James of Pawleys Island, SC; his seven grandchildren – Jocelyn, James, Ashley, Maria, Theresa, Frank, & Brandon; his 12 great-grandchildren – Harley, Shawn, Malcolm, Sophia, Skylee, Shyanne, Oliver, Curtis, Scarlett, Cecilia, Leo, & Ezekiel; his two sisters, Nancy Laubach & husband, Richard of Conyngham, PA, Charlotte Marnell of Conyngham, PA; and his brother, Rodney Hawk & wife, Jill of Conyngham, PA.

In addition to his wife and parents, Barry was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Thomas Marnell.

A memorial service will be held on January 28th, 2023 at 1:00pm at Conyngham United Methodist Church, 411 S Main St, Conyngham, Pennsylvania 18219.

Inurnment will take place at Conyngham United Methodist Church Cemetery immediately following the memorial service.
