Barry A. Johnson , 81, of Souderton, and formerly of Cowpath Road, Telford, passed away on Saturday, January 14, 2023, at his residence surrounded by his family.

Barry was the loving husband of Sara (Landis) Johnson for 58 years. He was born in Lansdale, PA to the late Wilson K. Johnson and the late Virginia (Kulp) Johnson.

Barry graduated from Souderton Area High School in 1959. After high school, Barry entered the Air Force and was a Maintenance Crew Chief on a KC-135 refueling aircraft. He served for 4 years, from 1959 until 1963, and was always proud of his service. He enjoyed going to air shows and later visiting various Air Force bases.

After his service, Barry worked at Handy Harman Co, located in Norristown, and then the North Penn Reporter. He became a part-time Telford police officer serving with Chief Bickle. He took computer classes and taught himself Morse code. His call numbers are on his license plate. He was employed at Sperry Unisys as a Computer Operator for 29 years before retiring. To keep busy, Barry drove a school bus for Hagey Transportation and then began driving the tour buses. He enjoyed talking with his clients and taking them to places like Shady Maple Smorgasbord, but his favorite trips were the Eagles football and Phillies baseball games.

Barry was a member of the Shiloh Masonic Lodge # 558, Lansdale, PA for 48 years and the Scottish Rite Northern Masonic Lodge in Allentown, PA, for 47 years. Barry was also a member of the Telford VFW and enjoyed going to Bingo every month. He loved to bowl and participated in a league at Earl Bowl Lanes for many years; he had a wicked curve ball. He also was part of the Bucks-Mont 2-Cylinder Club and a Ham Radio Operator. He was a very active member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church serving as a teacher, council member and usher.

Barry was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He enjoyed deer hunting every fall, occasionally using the flintlock rifle he built. He loved to tinker on projects in his man cave and build birdhouses. He enjoyed talking to people and telling jokes. One of his favorite phrases was, "Work smarter, not harder." He traveled many places with his family in the Dutchman camper, spending summer vacations in Chincoteague, VA. Later, Barry and Sara enjoyed vacationing at Duck, NC and went on cruises to Bermuda and Alaska. They also vacationed in Hawaii, Alaska, Italy and St. Maarten.

In addition to his wife Sara, Barry is survived by his three daughters, Jennifer Baldassano & husband Gus of Souderton, PA; Lisa Favorin & husband Thom of Valrico, FL; and Carrie Scary & husband Ken of Perkasie, PA; his five grandchildren, Rachael, Hannah, Ben, Jaime, and Lauren; his two sisters, Linda L. Bolin of Spring Mount, PA, and Jeannette J. Delp & husband Willis of Sellersville, PA; and his brother, Curtis Johnson of Souderton, PA; his brothers Terry Johnson of NJ, Scott Johnson of PA and Mike Johnson of IA.

Friends may meet with the family on Friday, January 27, 2023 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 107 W. Lincoln Ave., Telford, PA 18969, from 9:00 am to 10:30 am. Funeral services to follow at 10:30 a.m. The family invites everyone to a luncheon to follow the service.

Burial will take place with Military honors at Washington Crossing National Cemetery, Newtown, PA.
