Bartle "Bart" Denithorne, 82, of Lansdale, PA formerly of Sellersville, PA & Cape May, NJ went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 9, 2020. He resided at Manor Care, Montgomeryville, Pa. since 2017.

He was the loving husband of Sarah (Groff) Denithorne for 52 years. Bart was born in Phoenixville, PA to the late John Wesley and the late Ethel (Lambert) Denithorne.

A graduate of Phoenixville High School, class of 1956, he was active with the Drum and Bugle Corp and was an Eagle Scout. Bart then attended Dobbins Vocational School in Philadelphia.

He worked for Aerojet Rocketdyne in CA where he assisted in building the first rocket engine which lead to placing the first man on the moon. That experience led him to car racing, where he had the pleasure of working with A.J. Foyt and had the experience of working the Formula 1 racing circuit. He moved back to PA in 1966. He was maintenance supervisor for Marshall Maintenance in Mainland, performing structural jobs which involved welding &, pipefitting. Later he drove truck for Patterson Trucking, Bud Keating Trucking and Ziegler's Apple Cider. He also owned of the Bike Barn in Sellersville, PA. In 1996, moving to Cape May, New Jersey, he owned and operated The Primrose Inn and worked at the Mid Atlantic Center for the Arts as a trolley driver and later worked for Lower Cape May Regional School District where he retired after 18 years.

Bart was a member of Calvary Church of Souderton where he served as a greeter.

He was a member of the Chamber of Commerce of Greater Cape May, NJ, Cape May Fire Police, Mid Atlantic Center for the Arts, and Historic Accommodations of Cape May.

Bart was an avid bicyclist enjoying many rides of 100 miles or more, as well as the Cape May 200, cross country skiing, sailing, NASCAR racing, training and traveling with his motor cross team while operating the Bike Barn.

He was a hardworking, kind man with a great sense of humor, loved to dance, and loved to laugh. He was very proud of the fact that his "HOT ROD" was driven in the movie "THE BLOB by Steve McQueen when filmed in Coatesville & Phoenixville.

In addition to his wife, Sarah, he is survived by his two daughters, Pamela Summers & husband, Joseph of Harleysville, PA and Kristi Moyer & husband, Jonathan of Telford, PA; his six grandchildren – William, Jennifer, Joseph, Hannah, Daniel and James; and his great-grandson, Lee. Also, Bart is survived by 11 nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his two sons, John Denithorne II & Bartle Scott Denithorne; his brother, James Denithorne; and his two sisters, Betty Jane Jernigan & Margot Richter.

A memorial service will be held in the future at the convenience of the family.
