Obituary

Bessie M. (Shutt) Davis , 85, of Green Lane, PA; formerly of Perkasie, PA, Allentown, PA, Hatfield, PA & Cyclone, PA went home to be with the Lord on Friday, August 4, 2023 at her residence.

She was the loving wife of T. William Davis, Sr. for 61 years. Bessie was born in Stuttgart, AR to the late Louie Alfred Shutt and the late Iris Irene (Pillington) Shutt.

She graduated from Wichita West High School in Wichita, KS, class of 1956. Bessie graduated from Eastern Bible Institute in Green Lane, PA.

She was a pastor's wife all throughout her life. Bessie was a devoted wife and mother. In the mid-1970's, she was a self-employed owner of a film developing business in Bradford, PA. Bessie worked as a secretary for Estate of George S. Snyder, Inc. in Hatfield, PA and then for Westminster Theological Seminary in Glenside, PA. She then worked as a clerk for the DMV in Dublin, PA. Bessie was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.

She was a member of Lansdale Presbyterian Church where she and her husband ran the "Seniors Living in Christ" program and she sang in the church choir.

Bessie enjoyed crocheting, sewing, reading and studying the Bible, and traveling to Missouri with her husband. She loved flower gardening.

Bessie was a caring, compassionate, patient, honest woman who had a good sense of humor.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her two sons, James "Jim" Alfred Davis & fiancé, Cleo Havlovic of Ashton, IA and T. William "Bill" Davis, Jr. & wife, Kay of Green Lane, PA; and her two granddaughters, Elizabeth L. Davis of Green Lane, PA and Grace H. Davis of Green Lane, PA.

In addition to her parents, Bessie was preceded in death by her daughter, Ruth I. Davis; her daughter-in-law, Willa E. Davis; her two sisters, Mabel Smith & Winifred "Eva" Jones; and her brother, John Shutt.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Sunday, August 6, 2023 at 11:00 am at Boulder Woods Campground, 1050 Camp Skymount Road, Green Lane, Pennsylvania 18054.

Memorial contributions may be made to: Grand View Hospice, 700 Lawn Ave, Sellersville, PA 18960. If you wish to send flowers, please send live annuals so they may planted in Bessie's flower garden.
