Obituary

Betty Jane (Wismer) Conroy , 77, of Red Hill, formerly of Schwenksville, PA, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 21, 2022 in her home surrounded by her family.

She was the loving wife of Thomas Richard Conroy, and they would have celebrated their wedding anniversary of 44 years on June 23rd. Betty was born in Norristown, PA to the late John Wismer and Ada (Myers) Wismer.

A graduate of Norristown High School class of 1963, Betty also attended Philadelphia College of the Bible. Betty raised two children of her own and helped to raise one grandchild. She was employed in various occupations, including key punch operator, bank teller, and receptionist at the SPCA. She was last employed as a Home Health Aid for VNA of Lansdale.

She was an active member of Shepard of the Hills Church, in Bechtelsville, where she enjoyed working with the youth group. Betty was also an avid genealogical researcher. She found great enjoyment in tracing her own family line, and through this process, she built connections with many relatives with whom she had previously lost touch.

Betty embraced adventure. When vacationing close to home, she loved the New Jersey Shore, especially Sea Isle. Further afield, she traveled with her family across North America to see, among other sights, the Grand Canyon and Yellowstone National Park. When her son Thom and his family moved to New Zealand in 2005, Betty was right behind them, traveling there for an extended visit in 2007. Betty will be remembered for her outgoing spirit and devotion to the Lord. She had a desire to support her family and friends any chance she could. Betty cared for any and all in need, including many an animal she adopted into her home.

Betty was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. In addition to her husband, Thomas, she is survived by her two sons, Thom Joseph Conroy and his partner Suzanne Chelius of Ashhurst, New Zealand; Jonathan Michael Conroy and his wife Sandra of Red Hill, PA; her four grandchildren, Tyler, Alexis, Zora, and Walker; her great-granddaughter Emma; and her elder brother Harold Wismer of Norristown, PA.
