Obituary

Carol Landes Longacre, 85, of Souderton, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 16, 2026.

She was the loving wife of the late Henry W. Longacre and the daughter of the late William D. Swartley and Valeria S. (Landes) Swartley.

Carol graduated from Christopher Dock Mennonite High School and Grand View Hospital School of Nursing. She worked for several years as a registered nurse and later worked alongside her husband at farmers’ market stands when needed.

She had a deep love for music and spent countless hours preparing worship experiences through playing the organ and piano, leading congregational singing, and directing choirs at Swamp Mennonite Church, where she was an active member.

Carol enjoyed traveling, playing golf, card games, and Scrabble. Her family especially enjoyed her cooking and baking. She treasured time with her family, including taking each grandchild for a special day each year. She also cherished making family memories together in Florida, the Poconos, and at the Jersey shore.

Carol was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was caring, compassionate, and honest, and she sought to live her life in a way that honored Christ and reflected His example.

She is survived by her sons, H. William (Catharine) of Quakertown, G. Robert (Lorena) of Telford, and Cory L. (Linda) of Telford. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Isaac (Moraya), Elizabeth (Dane), Lydia, and Benjamin, children of H. William and Catharine; Micah (Shauna), Levi (Julia), Kristen, and Nicole, children of G. Robert and Lorena; and Olyvia (Amanda), Davry, and Zeke, children of Cory and Linda; and great-granddaughter Margot, daughter of Micah and Shauna.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Janet L. Goshow. She is also survived by her brother, William L. Swartley and his wife, Susie, of Newton, KS, and her sister, Elizabeth (Betsy) L. Heavener and her husband, Keith, of Telford, PA.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, September 26, 2026 at 11:00 am at Swamp Mennonite Church, 2125 Rosedale Road, Quakertown, Pennsylvania 18951. Friends may meet with the family from 9:00 am to 10:45 am prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Swamp Mennonite Church or Spruce Lake Retreat.

Arrangements are by Anders-Detweiler Funeral Home & Crematory, Souderton. Online condolences may be shared with the family through the funeral home's website at www.AndersFH.com.
