Carolyn (Schmidt) Buckner , 87, of Telford, PA; formerly of North Wales, PA & Broomall, PA passed away on Thursday, August 6, 2020 at Lutheran Community at Telford.

She was the loving wife of the late Harry D. Buckner for 38 years. Carolyn was born in East St. Louis, Illinois to the late Roland Louis Schmidt and the late Mildred Anna (Ropiequet) Schmidt.

She is survived by her daughter, Leslie Rathbun & husband, Vincent Ebb of Baltimore, MD; her son, Richard W. Rathbun & wife, Linda of Buford, GA; her two step-daughters, Janet Porter of Red Hill, PA, Nancy Deifer & husband, James of Schwenksville, PA; her step-son, John Buckner & wife, Debra of Hatfield, PA; her nine grandchildren – Christopher, Corinne, Matthew, Ryan, Amy, Curtis, Stephon, AJ, & Caitlin; her four great-grandchildren – Jackson, McKenna, Liesl, & Rylee.

Carolyn will be remembered for her involvement in church, education and charity. She was a former member of St Mark's United Methodist Church in Broomall, PA where she served as a Sunday school teacher, a member of WSCS, and did social outreach by tutoring underprivileged children in reading. Carolyn was also a former member of St. Peters Lutheran Church in North Wales, PA where she served as the president of the church council and is a current member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Blue Bell, PA.

Carolyn was an inveterate planner; a lover of books, literature and knowledge, and a professional administrative assistant for various law firms in the Philadelphia area for over twenty-five years. Carolyn was a strong believer in social activism, civil rights, women's rights, pacifism and supported Planned Parenthood and the Democratic Party.

She was a loving grandmother who cherished spending time with her family. Carolyn enjoyed knitting, needlepoint and cross-stitch and created many beautiful keepsakes for her family. She and Harry enjoyed spending time at the shore and having breakfast on the beach.

A memorial service is planned for April of 2021.
