Obituary

Carolyn R. (Hitchner) Metz , 79, of Perkiomenville, PA; formerly of Abington, PA passed away on Monday, July 4, 2022 at St. Luke's Hospice House in Bethlehem, PA.

She was the loving wife of Atlee D. Metz for 61 years. Carolyn was born in Philadelphia, PA the late Frederick Hitchner and the late Christina (Pfeil) Hitchner.

She graduated from Abington High School in Abington, PA, class of 1960. Carolyn was employed as an office manager for the former Rotelle, Inc. in Springhouse, PA and then for the former Data Tech Services, Inc. in Ft. Washington, PA.

Carolyn was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.

Carolyn was a selfless, caring person that shared her life with so many people.  She loved to read books, cook, attend the theater and formal tea parties. She loved history and travel, including camping.

Carolyn's main focus was her family and the love and importance of family was reflected in all the gatherings she hosted. She attended events, near and far, in which her children and grandchildren participated. These included football, soccer, baseball, basketball, track, lacrosse, swimming, volleyball, wrestling, karate, gymnastics, ballet, dance, choir, plays, and concerts. She was always proud of the accomplishments of her children and grandchildren and never missed the opportunity to attend major milestones. She was considered "mom" to many who knew and loved her.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her four sons, Michael D. Metz & wife, Suzanne Person of Clementon, NJ, Lee D. Metz & wife, Bonnie of Wilmington, DE, David L. Metz of Schwenksville, PA, Erik C. Metz & wife, Andrea of Ottsville, PA; her seven grandchildren – Kate, Jake, Zack, Erik Jr., Benjamin, Reagan, & Ryan; her former daughter-in-law Lisa Reddington of Doylestown, PA; and her sister, Beth Jensen & husband, David of Brook Dale, FL.

At the request of the family, there will be NO services.
