Obituary

Celia (Rivera) Landis , 82, of Souderton, Pa. went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 24, 2023 at Souderton Mennonite Homes.

She was a devoted follower of Jesus Christ who expressed her faith through selfless service to others, especially those in need.

She was the loving wife of the late Ray D. Landis for 55 years. Celia was born on March 13, 1941 in Las Piedras, Puerto Rico to the late Armando Rivera and Petra (Marquez) Rivera.

She received her certification as an LPN in Puerto Rico. A homemaker until her children were grown, she was then employed as a Nurse Aide for Souderton Mennonite Homes for over 25 years.

She was a faithful member of Perkiomenville Mennonite Church.

She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who enjoyed, cooking, baking, gardening, sewing, and crocheting.  Celia was an avid reader, and she loved bird watching and listening to Phillies games on the radio.

She is survived by her three daughters, Keila (Michael) Goshow of Hatfield, PA, Ruth Janton of Perkiomenville, PA, and Rachel (Paul) Stinedurf of Clio, MI; her two sons, David R.(Deborah) Landis of Atmore, AL, and  Alvin R. (Dawn) Landis of Telford, PA; her nineteen grandchildren, Tirsa, Tori, Micah, Diana, David Jr., Darren, Monica, Veronica, Natalie, Valerie, Josiah, Esther, Anna, Samuel, Faith, Montague, Maxwell, Morgan and Paige; her fifteen great grandchildren, Hayden, Ava, Ainsley, Sydney, Jax, Daisy, Ivy, Tommy, Zeke, Joy, Theodore, Lazarus, Roman, Charlotte, and Ray; her two sisters, Noelia Rivera and Meridith Rivera-Sanchez; and her brother, Armando Rivera.

In addition to her husband, Ray, she was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Darla Joy Landis; her two brothers, Rafael Rivera and Roberto Rivera; and her sister Elsa Rivera-Marquez.

A viewing will be held on Friday, June 2, 2023 at Souderton Mennonite Summit View Auditorium from 8 AM to 10 AM at 207 W. Summit St., Souderton, Pa 18964.

A Celebration of Life service will follow at 10 AM.

Burial will take place at Perkiomenville Mennonite Cemetery.
