Charles "Chuck' D. Glass , 84, of Souderton, PA; formerly of Warminster, PA went home to be with the Lord on Friday, September 13, 2024 at Souderton Mennonite Homes.

Chuck was the loving husband of Rae Ann (Buck) Glass for 64 years. He was born in Marshalltown, Iowa to the late Charles Walter Glass and the late Joyce Elaine (Meyer) Glass.

Chuck graduated from Central High School in Minneapolis, MN, class of 1958.  During his high school years he swam competitively and taught swimming at his local YMCA.

After graduation he enlisted in the Navy where he served as a sonar man on the USS Bennington. He also served as a crewman on a Search & Rescue helicopter.  He was a rescue swimmer and taught rescue and survival swimming.  The latter part of his naval career was spent in educating other sailors in anti-submarine warfare.  He was stationed in Reamfield, CA, Minneapolis, MN, Willow Grove, PA, and Lakehurst, NJ.  After retiring as a Senior Chief Petty Officer in 1980, he served with the Fleet Reserve.

Upon retiring from the military, he worked for 12 years at Unisys Corporation writing systems instructional manuals.  Upon leaving Unisys, he served for 12 years in full-time ministry with Christian Businessman's Connection (CBMC) as the regional director supporting many local committees.  His passion was to share the gospel with men and disciple them, as well as encourage other men to do the same.  During the many years he was involved with CBMC prior to his full-time service, he helped write Lifestyle Evangelism materials and lead seminars at various churches.

Chuck was a member of Living Hope Community Church in Dublin, PA where he served as an elder and a greeter.  Prior to that he attended Grace Gospel Chapel in Plumsteadville, PA.  He was very involved there as well and, at one time, served as the Sunday school superintendent.

Chuck was a devoted son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, and great uncle.  His hobbies throughout his life included hunting, fishing, trap shooting, swimming, small business (Amway distributor) and studying the Bible.  One of his favorite activities after becoming a grandfather was attending the sports and music events that his grandchildren participated in.  He was one of their biggest fans.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his two daughters, Kim M. Detweiler & husband, Douglas of Quakertown, PA, Kelli A. Benner & husband, Brian of Liberty, PA; his eight grandchildren – Rebekah Detweiler, Quinn Detweiler & wife, Lauren, Heath Detweiler & wife, Haley, Cara Hayes (Detweiler) & husband, Joel, Blair Detweiler, Isaac Detweiler, Noah Benner, & Sudan Benner; his three great-grandchildren:  Sybil Detweiler, Kore Hayes, & Jesse Hayes; his two sisters:  Kay Elaine Erickson of Glendale, AZ,  Linda Jean Gunn & husband, Joe, of Mesa, AZ; his two nephews:  Jeff Erickson & wife, Mia, of Glendale, AZ, Steven Erickson & wife, Amy of San Jose CA, and his niece, Tracy Norris & husband, Greg, of Mesa, AZ; his two great-nephews:  Nathan Erickson & Jack Erickson; his great nieces:  Abigail Erickson & Sophia Norris

In addition to his parents, Chuck was preceded in death by his two grandchildren – Joshua & Nathanael Detweiler.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, October 19, 2024 from 9:30 am – 11:00 am at Living Hope Community Church-Dublin, 22H PA-313, Perkasie, PA 18944, followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 11:00 am.  A luncheon will follow the service.

A private inurnment will take place at Washington Crossing National Cemetery.
