Charles "Charlie"
Robert Schmidt
Nov 4, 1938 — Jan 13, 2024
Charles "Charlie" Robert Schmidt , 85, of Zieglerville, PA; formerly of Lakeville PA passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 13, 2024, surrounded by his family.
Charlie was the loving husband of the late Marcia (Baum) Schmidt for 57 years. He was born in Philadelphia, PA to the late Louis Schmidt and the late Anna (Pohl) Schmidt.
Charlie graduated from Abington High School, class of 1956. He then graduated from Temple University.
Charlie retired from the banking industry in 1996 where he worked in facility management and computers. He was a member of Lakeville United Methodist Church in Lakeville, PA.
Charlie was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He and Marcia raised their family in Churchville for over 40 years then later retired to Lake Wallenpaupack in 2011. His love for the outdoors lent to countless camping trips up and down the east coast and as far as Michigan. Charlie made sure his family had many adventures, campfires and good home cooked meals while exploring the wilderness.
Besides his family, Charlie took pride in his beautiful gardens. They were a place of solitude that he and Marcia would spend time together enjoying the sounds of nature. Charlie spent hours on the weekends planting, pruning, and "rolling rocks" to make the most beautiful gardens at his home. They truly were a source of pride for him.
Charlie was known to always have a camera in hand. Charlie's home adorned pictures of wildlife, his gardens and family. He never passed up an opportunity to make a memory and they will be cherished forever.
Charlie is survived by his two sons, Bruce A. Schmidt & wife, Jaclyn of Barto, PA, Andrew W. Schmidt & wife, Mary of Kintnersville, PA; his seven grandchildren – Meghan & husband, Josh, Courtney, Caroline, Anna, Elizabeth, Emily, & Benjamin; and his one great-grandson – Ronan.
