Obituary

Cherolyn "Sherry" Doris (Greisamer) Nyce , 85, of Souderton, PA, passed away peacefully with her children at her bedside on Sunday, May 19, 2024 at Broadmead Dynamic Living in Cockeysville, Maryland, where she had been a resident since April of 2023, after numerous lengthy illnesses that ultimately rendered her non-ambulatory.

Sherry was the loving wife of the late Curtis Dale Nyce for 38 years and were high school sweethearts before his tragic death in July of 1999 from a rollerblading accident in NY state.  She was the only child born in Sellersville, PA to the late Roy Y. Greisamer and the late Pauline (Saladae) Greisamer, who owned Greisamer Photography Studios in both Souderton, PA and then Quakertown, PA.

Sherry graduated from Souderton Area High School, class of 1957. She then graduated from West Chester College, class of 1961, with a bachelor's degree in education. She started out her teaching career at Sellersville Elementary in the Pennridge School District.  She was then employed as a teacher briefly at West Broad Elementary School in Souderton and finished her teaching career at Franconia Elementary School in Souderton teaching 5th grade.  Sherry's teaching career spanned 40 years, and she loved teaching before retiring in June of 2004.

Sherry was a long-time member of Zwingli United Church of Christ in Souderton, PA.

Sherry loved traveling in her younger years with her husband, whether it was stateside or to warm, tropical islands, including Hawaii and Mexico.  She was an excellent cook, and also enjoyed gardening, swimming and laying in the sun at the Souderton Pool in the summers on her summer break from teaching, music, reading, playing cards, going out to eat, spending time with family and friends, watching Jeopardy, and spent countless hours watching videos on her iPad/iPhone.  In Sherry's older years, having all her kids and grandkids together in one place brought her the most joy.

She is survived by her three children, Christopher "Chris" D. Nyce & wife, Lin of Cockeysville, MD, Corinne "Corie" D. Nyce of Souderton, PA, and Chad D. Nyce of Ashburn, VA; her granddaughter, Megan Nyce of Harrisonburg, VA and her grandson, Cooper Nyce of Ashburn, VA.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, June 15, 2024 at Zwingli United Church of Christ, 350 Wile Avenue, Souderton, PA 18964 from 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm, followed by a Celebration of Life service at 2:00 pm.

A private burial will take place at Zion Memorial Gardens in Franconia, PA in the morning preceding the service.
