Clayton M. Wier, Sr. , 93, of Hatfield, Pennsylvania; formerly of Norristown, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 26, 2025, at Grand View Hospital.

He was the devoted husband of the late Shirley Ann (McGunigal) Wier, with whom he shared 65 wonderful years of marriage. Born in Norristown, Clayton was the son of the late James Irvin Wier and Catherine (Lewis Haines) Wier.

Clay proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. Over the years, he worked as a test car driver for the former Lee Tires in Conshohocken, a laborer for Firestone Tire and Rubber in Pottstown for 15 years, and later as a line striping laborer for Line Design in Ambler.

An active member of the American Legion Post #601 in Muncy Valley, Clayton also belonged to Camp Westdon in Sullivan County since 1972.

Clay had many passions and talents. He enjoyed flower gardening, woodworking, traveling, and was an avid sports fan, especially of baseball. A sixth-degree black belt in Taekwondo, he shared his skills as an assistant instructor at a local Norristown dojo. He also dedicated time to his community as a former assistant coach for Norristown Little League and was a lifelong hunter.

Known for his strong work ethic, kind heart, and easygoing nature, Clay was loved by many for his sociable spirit and wonderful sense of humor.

He is survived by his daughter Erma Marie Valerio & husband, John of Royersford, PA; his son James R. Wier & wife, Jeanne of Norristown, PA; his seven grandchildren—Anthony, Theresa, Nicholas, Amanda, Maria, James Jr., and Marcus; and his six great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents and beloved wife, he was preceded in death by his son, Clayton M. Wier, Jr., and his six brothers and one sister.

At Clayton's request, no services will be held.

Inurnment will take place at Chelten Hills Cemetery in Philadelphia.
