Curtis H. Landes , 91, of Franconia, PA went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 11, 2022 at his residence.

He was the loving husband of the late Phyllis (Price) Landes for 62 years. Curt was born in Franconia, PA to the late Jonas A. Landes and Edna (Halteman) Landes.

Prior to his marriage, he worked on a farm for Harvey Rittenhouse, drove a milk truck for a local dairy and was a deliveryman for Landis Block Co., Souderton. One week after their marriage, Curt and Phyllis left for Vermont. They served 2 years of alternate IW service during WWII at a psychiatric hospital in Brattleboro, VT.

Throughout his life time he was employed as a carpenter. In the late 50's he was self-employed as a Commission Merchant in Philadelphia and its suburbs for 11 years. In the 70's he was employed with Mopac, Souderton, PA.

He retired in the early 2000's and volunteered his carpentry skills for Liberty Ministries, Schwenksville and Mennonite Disaster Service. He also did part time maintenance for Godshall Meats, Telford.

He was a life member of Franconia Mennonite Church. He enjoyed mowing grass, growing tomatoes and sweet corn. Curt was skilled at reupholstering furniture. He appreciated visitors and chocolate.

Curt is survived by his two sons, Rodney P. Landes and wife Eva of Harleysville, PA, and Corey P. Landes and wife Gwen of Telford, PA; his two daughters, Glenda P. Gehman and husband,  Dennis of Franconia; Gayle P. Bencsik and husband, Chris of Souderton, PA; his 13 grandchildren, Jason, Joanna, Joshua, Elijah, Aaron, Kaela, Teesha, Chelsie, Morgan, Amber, Nate, Shelby and, Trevor; his 23 great-grandchildren, his sister, Mary Leatherman of Ottsville, PA.

In addition to his wife, Phyllis, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Edna Geissinger and  Verna Hunsberger.

A viewing will be held on Wednesday, January 19th, 2022 at Franconia Mennonite Church,  613 Harleysville Pike, Telford, PA 18969 from 9:00 am to 10:30 am. A funeral service will follow at 10:30 am.

Burial will take place at Franconia Mennonite Cemetery.
