Cynthia (Perry) Nester , age 95, of Souderton, Pennsylvania, formerly of Harleysville, was called Home to Heaven by her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, early Saturday morning, January 31, 2026, at Souderton Mennonite Homes.

She was the beloved wife of the late William "Bill" E. Nester, with whom she shared 70 years of marriage. Born in Norristown, Pennsylvania, Cynthia was the daughter of the late Miles C. Perry and the late Ida M. (Stephens) Perry.

Cynthia graduated from Whitpain High School in Blue Bell, Class of 1948. She met the love of her life through the Bethel Hill United Methodist Church Youth Group. Following Bill's discharge from the United States Marine Corps, they were married at Bethel Hill on May 14, 1949.

Following graduation, she worked as an office clerk for the former Bell Telephone in Norristown. Over the years, she also worked part-time as a cafeteria cashier at the former Lower Salford Elementary School in Harleysville, as an office clerk for Anders Aluminum in Franconia Township, and as a store clerk for Yocum, Godshalk & Company in Souderton. Above all, Cynthia was devoted to her roles as wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

She was an active member and faithful volunteer at Grace Bible Church in Souderton, where she served as a Sunday school teacher, choir member, nursery worker, and Bible study leader. Cynthia and her husband Bill also volunteered together as part of the welcome committee at Souderton Mennonite Homes, joyfully filling their time serving others wherever they could.

Cynthia had a heart for mentoring women and caregiving. She lovingly welcomed her mother, "Nano," into her Harleysville home for 33 years following the passing of her father, with the devoted support of her husband, Bill.

Cynthia enjoyed reading Christian novels, completing word search and jigsaw puzzles, watching birds, and freezing and canning produce from the garden. She especially loved spending time with her family and frequently opened her home to family members, church friends, and missionaries, lovingly preparing meals for all who gathered around her table.

A gracious homemaker and a source of constant encouragement, Cynthia was always willing to help anyone in need. Her kitchen table was a place of hospitality, prayer, and conversation—always open for a cup of tea and a listening ear.

Cynthia was a kind, sweet, and gracious woman who always had a gentle word to share.

She is survived by her daughter, Wanda Sue Insley and husband, Thomas H. of Poway, CA; her sons, Bradley W. Nester and wife, Barbara of Souderton, PA, and Brian K. Nester and wife, Dianna of Cedarville, OH; eight grandchildren—John, Scott, Amy, Andrew, Jonathan, Tim, Renee, and David; and 29 great-grandchildren—Miles, Hazel, Indie, Levi, Stephen, Asaph, Irene, Gideon, Sawyer, Sage, Julian, Willow "Phoenix," Zoe, Ella "August," Indira, Ari, Cale, Megersa, Thad, Shepherd, Neve, Griffin, Poppy, Jeremiah, Ezekiel, William "Liam," Jax, Tobias, and Silas.

In addition to her parents and husband, Cynthia was preceded in death by her four sisters, Dortha "Dollie" Bitting, Babette "Bobbie" Hogshead, Jean Alderfer, and Virginia Shakeshaft, and their spouses; and her three brothers, John Perry, Robert Perry, and Charles Thomas "Tommy" Perry, and their spouses; and her two great-grandbabies in Heaven, Ezra and Evangeline.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2026, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Souderton Mennonite Homes, 207 W. Summit Street, Souderton, PA 18964, followed by a memorial service at 11:00 a.m.

A private burial will take place at Bethel Hill United Methodist Cemetery in Lansdale.
