Obituary

Debra "Debi" A. (Reck) Van Trieste , 75, of Souderton, PA; formerly of Schwenksville, PA & Altoona, PA went home to be with the Lord unexpectedly on Sunday, March 23, 2025 at St. Luke's Hospital - Upper Bucks Campus.

Debi was the loving companion of the late James J. DeVitis, Jr, affectionately known as "My Jimmy" to her. She was born in Huntingdon, PA to the late Arthur M. Reck and the late Elizabeth A. (Haney) Reck.

Debi graduated from Mt. Union High School in Mt. Union, PA, class of 1967. She worked as a secretary for the former Butterick Company, Inc. in Altoona, PA & later for the former Conrail (known now as Norfolk Southern) in Altoona, PA. She then worked as Licensed Practical Nurse for Nursing Care Services in Lansdale, PA and recently for Senior Helpers in Harleysville, PA.

Debi was an active member of Jerusalem Evangelical Lutheran Church in Sellersville, PA. She more recently attended Morning Star Fellowship - Pennsburg Campus with her daughter, Angel.

Debi's Christian faith was number one in her life. She loved Jesus, fellowshipping at church, and was an avid reader of Christian books. She also loved animals especially her cats, making jewelry, and cooking. She enjoyed spending time out with her friends and baking. In her younger years, she enjoyed being the captain of the cheerleading squad in her high school and she was a dancing fashionista on American Bandstand when it was based in Philadelphia.

Debi was a hardworking, caring, honest, sociable woman who loved a good conversation, was a good listener, and had a great sense of humor.

She is survived by her two sons, David W. Barner & wife, Jennifer of Duncansville, PA, Michael A. Barner of Tuscon, AZ; her daughter, Angel M. Kratohwill of Souderton, PA; her 13 grandchildren; and her six great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and companion, she was preceded in death by her brother, Dennis "Tink" Reck.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, April 5, 2025 from 10:00 am - 11:00 am at Jerusalem Evangelical Lutheran Church, 733 Ridge Road, Sellersville, PA 18960, followed by a Celebration of Life service at 11:00 am.

Inurnment will take place in the adjoining church cemetery named Jerusalem Union Cemetery.
