Obituary

Dorothy (Detweiler) Moyer , 90, of Souderton, PA; formerly of Sellersville, PA & Plumsteadville, PA went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at Souderton Mennonite Homes.

She was the loving wife of the late Harry S. Moyer for 54 years. Dorothy was born in Plumstead Twp., PA to the late Abram W. Detweiler and the late Sarah (Tyson) Detweiler.

She worked as a seamstress for the former Dublin Pants Factory in Dublin, PA, as a cook for the former Fallow House in Plumsteadville, PA, as a housekeeper for the former Brayside School in Perkasie, PA, and lastly as a self-employed housekeeper for local residents in the Doylestown & Chalfont areas.

Dorothy was a former member of Groveland Mennonite Church where she sang in the chorus and served as a Bible school & Sunday school teacher. She was also an active member of Silverdale Brethren in Christ Church where she served as a deaconess and was part of the kitchen committee.

Dorothy volunteered for the Care & Share Thrift Shoppes in Souderton for over 25 years.

She loved spending time with her family. Dorothy and her husband enjoyed entertaining guests at their home and taking annual family trips to Potter County. She also enjoyed crocheting, making baby blankets, quilting, embroidery, cooking, singing, and traveling to the mountains and Florida.

Dorothy was a kind, sweet, content, bubbly, generous woman who was always willing to help others.

She is survived by her four children, Glenn Moyer & wife, Glenda of Bremen, IN, Cheryl Alderfer & husband, David of Silverdale, PA, Kenneth Moyer & wife, Rebecca of Monticello, IL, Karen Alderfer & husband, James of Pottstown, PA; her 11 grandchildren – Matthew, Nathan, Lori, Ryan, Tricia, Jonathan, Anna, David, Michelle, William & Stephen; and her 16 great-grandchildren – Katie, Naomi, Gracelyn, Sophia, Lydia, Araminta, Matias, Lili, Micah, Josiah, Garrett, Nolan, Lexi, Zach, Bentley, & Finn.

In addition to her parents and husband, Dorothy was preceded in death by her 2nd husband, Earl L. Keeler; her two brothers, Alvin T. Detweiler & Wilmer T. Detweiler; and her four sisters, Miriam T. Myers, Irma T. Detweiler, Elizabeth "Liz" T. Rush, & Mildred T. Clemmer.

A time of remembrance and sharing memories will be held on Tuesday, January 5, 2020 at 7:00 pm via Zoom. If you wish to be part of this event, please join us by clicking HERE . A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, January 6, 2021 at 11:00 am at Deep Run Mennonite Cemetery East, 350 Kellers Church Road, Bedminster, Pennsylvania 18910.

Burial will take place at Deep Run Mennonite Cemetery East.
