Obituary

Douglas E. Hershey , 63, of Souderton, PA went home to be with the Lord, unexpectedly, on Thursday, June 13, 2024 at his residence.

Doug was born in Sellersville, PA to the late Harold and Betty (Moyer) Hershey.

A graduate of Christopher Dock Mennonite High School class of 1978, he then attended Messiah College. He also attended the School of Ministry at Christian Retreat in Bradenton, FL in 1979.

Doug was employed by Wampler-Longacre Poultry during the 80's and 90's. From the 90's through 2009 he was employed as a mail clerk for Harleysville Insurance. Doug was a caregiver for his mother in her last years.

He was an avid sports fan, especially of the Phillies, and a collector of baseball cards.

Doug was a huge fan of early contemporary Christian music, attending many concerts and outdoor festivals. He enjoyed family gatherings and will be remembered for his unique style of humor. Doug loved the Lord with his whole heart and Jesus was his best friend.

Doug is survived by his two sisters, Dawn Stanislaw & husband John of East Greenville, PA, and Kim Richter & husband Al of Perkasie, PA; his brother, Steve Hershey & wife Kathy of Perkiomenville, PA; his 5 nephews, Christopher, Stephen, Jesse, Andy, Ben; his 4 nieces, Sarah, Bekki, Kristin and Katelyn; and 16 great-nephews and great-nieces.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday June 20, 2024 at Grace Mennonite Church, located at 630 York Avenue, Lansdale, PA 19446. A calling hour will begin at 6:00pm followed by the service at 7:00pm. Private inurnment will take place at Blooming Glen Mennonite Church Cemetery.
