Drenning H. Weidman , 93, of Sellersville, PA formerly of Perkasie passed away on Friday, November 4, 2022 at Grand View Hospital, Sellersville, PA.

He was the beloved husband of the late Carolyn (Nyce) Weidman and Linda (Pollock) Weidman. Drenning was born in West Reading, PA to the late Lynn Weidman and the late Verna (Seiger) Weidman.

He was a graduate of Perry Township High School class of 1946 and then went on to be the first person in his family to graduate from college earning a BS degree in Forestry from Michigan State College. Following his education he enlisted with the armed forces serving his country with the Air Force then the Army during the Korean conflict. During those 3 years, his time was spent gathering intelligence while stationed in Japan. He earned several medals & decorations.

After arriving back to the States, he spent a few years as a forest ranger and then discovered his true passion in sales. Drenning was employed by Merck Sharp & Dohme as a pharmaceutical sales rep for 41 years, retiring from there in 1996. Idleness was never an option for Drenning, his impressive work ethic led him to a few more sales positions after retirement all the way until he was 90. His outgoing personality and confident attitude inspired people to trust him, gaining many friends throughout this time.

He was a long-standing member of the Blooming Glen Mennonite Church transferring to the Souderton Mennonite in his later years. His entire life he enjoyed singing in the choir no matter what congregation he was attending.

Drenning was a avid reader and enjoyed international travel. He loved hunting & fishing, but most of all his passion was tennis & pickleball. Whether it be investing in stocks, health & wellness, or innovative gardening & farming; his thirst for knowledge never subsided. He was always willing to deep dive into research of any topic that interested him. One of these interests led him and his late wife, Carolyn, to restore the family farm back to his state of beauty and productivity, it was preserved to ensure future generations the benefits of nature.

As a member of the Buckingham Racquet Club & Doylestown Racquet Club, he was able to develop his skills on the tennis court. These skills led him to pickleball in his later years which truly helped him stay physically active for an impressive amount of time. Drenning was also a member of the Free and Accepted Masons, Jordon Lodge #673  in Allentown, PA as well as a charter member of Indian Valley AMBUCS.

He may be most remembered by family & close friends for his ability to write and recite poems. Many times, these may have been scratched on a napkin or piece of scrap paper to celebrate special occasions; but they were always recited by him, in person, with true dramatic flair while standing on a table or chair during a special event.

He is survived by his two daughters, Sherylee Rethi & husband James of Manor, TX, and Sheila N. Davis & husband John of Pennsburg, PA; his two sons, John B. Weidman & wife Guita of Kintnersville, PA, and Gary H. Weidman of Chambersburg, PA; his six grandchildren, Ryan, Taylor, Andrew, Roya, Jenni and Valeria.

He was preceded in death by his first wife Linda Weidman and second wife Carolyn Weidman, also his grandson, Kris Rethi, and his two brothers, Gerald Weidman and  Brother, Neal Weidman.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, November 10, 2022 at Anders-Detweiler Funeral Home & Crematory, 130 E. Broad St., Souderton, PA 18964 from 10:00 am - 11:00 am. A memorial service will follow at 11am.
