Obituary

Edna Mae Lewis Loux , daughter of Morris A. and Minerva Harding Lewis, was born on June 2nd, 1932, in "Historic" Hilltown, Hilltown Township, Bucks County, PA. She was the granddaughter of William H. and Lizzie Davies Lewis and John P. and Matilda Keller Harding.

Edna married the late David R. Loux, Sr., son of H. Monroe Loux and Laura Hinkle Loux on August 25th, 1951. The two of them have a common ancestor in The Rev. Thomas Dungan and his wife, Elizabeth Weaver Dungan. Edna's ancestral line descends through Elizabeth Dungan, their second child, and David's ancestral line descends through Sarah Dungan, their ninth child.

She attended the Elementary School, Grammar School and Hilltown High School in Blooming Glen, PA, graduating with the class in 1950, from Deep Run Valley High School. She was a graduate of Faith Bible Institute in Sellersville, PA.

Edna and David have three children: David R. Loux, Jr. and wife Lynn in Reno, NV; Terry B. Loux and wife Debbie in Souderton, PA.; and Melody M. Dowd and husband William in Melbourne, FL. Edna has a sister: Lorraine E. Moyer in Sellersville, PA. She has a brother: Paul M. Lewis and wife Mildred in Pennsylvania. She has numerous nieces and nephews. Her grandchildren are: Joel Crosbie in California; Teesa Crosbie Felt in Oregon, Melissa Dowd in Florida; Benjamin Loux and Laura Loux in Souderton, PA. Her great-grandchildren are: Keenan P. Crosbie and Vincent Crosbie in California; Emily and Hannah Felt, twins, Daniel Felt and Gavin Felt in Oregon.

Edna was employed by the Pennridge High School Food Service after her daughter graduated from High School. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution for over 30 years. She had a love for genealogy, and she compiled and published the family genealogies for both the Lewis and Loux family lines. She authored "A Walk Down Memory Lane," a history of Hilltown Baptist Church, and "Blooming Glen Remembered," a history and retrospective of Blooming Glen, PA. She crocheted many doilies and gave them as gifts.

She was a member of Hilltown Baptist Church for many years where she was an organist and assistant organist. She lived in Hilltown Township until 1998, when she and her husband moved to Brevard County, FL. In April 2009, she and her husband relocated to Lancaster County, PA. They attended Bible Baptist Church in Leola. In 2016, David and Edna moved to Hidden Meadows on the Ridge, Sellersville, PA. Following this, Edna moved to Independence Court, Quakertown, PA, in 2022, and Phoebe Richland, Richlandtown, PA, in 2023.

She was preceded in death by her husband, David R. Loux, Sr.; her parents, Morris and Minerva Harding Lewis; two brothers, Morris P. Lewis and Norman W. Lewis; a sister, Matilda H. Harwick; three sisters-in-law, Margaret Elizabeth Lewis, Judy Lewis and Joan Lewis; two brothers-in-law, Paul H. Harwick, Jr., and Willis K. Moyer.

A viewing and visitation service will be held on Saturday, September 23, 2023, at 10:00 am followed by a funeral service at 11:00 am at Anders-Detweiler Funeral Home & Crematory, 130 E. Broad St., Souderton, PA 18964.

Burial will take place at Lower Hilltown Baptist Church Cemetery, 11 Chalfont Road, Chalfont, PA 18914.
