Ernest S. Moyer , 102, of Harleysville, formerly of Blooming Glen, PA went home to be with the Lord on Friday, April 29, 2022 at Peter Becker Community, Harleysville, PA.

Ernie was born in Blooming Glen, PA to the late Erwin G. Moyer and the late Katie B. (Stover) Moyer.

A graduate of Sell-Perk High School class of 1937, he then attended Pierce Business School in Philadelphia, PA.

Throughout his working career, Ernie was employed at Bucks County Bank & Trust Company, retiring in 1982. Ernie will be remembered for doing business with a handshake.

He served in the US Army during WWII, mostly in the Philippines.

He grew up in the Blooming Glen Mennonite church. But after his marriage to Ruth Derbyshire he joined the Hilltown Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. Ernie and Ruth had a long and devoted marriage, lasting for over 70 years, until her death in 2012.

Ernie was a devoted husband, father, grand and great-grandfather. He enjoyed playing baseball in both high school and college. He was an avid golfer and also a lifelong Phillies and Eagles fan.

He is survived by his two sons, David E. Moyer and wife Joy of Greensboro, NC, and Timothy E. Moyer of Chalfont, PA; his daughter, R. Eileen Fairbanks of Southlake, TX.

7 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, 2 great great-grandchildren.

In addition to his wife Ruth, he was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Paul R Fairbanks and his daughter-in-law, Robin Moyer

A Viewing will be held on Wednesday, May 4th, 2022 at 9:30 am followed by a Funeral Service at 10:00 am. at the Peter Becker Chapel. 800 Maple Ave, Harleysville, PA. 19438.

Burial will follow immediately after the service at the Blooming Glen Mennonite Church Cemetery.
