Erwin Cameron Haines , 81, of Hatfield, Pennsylvania, entered into rest on Saturday, June 13, 2026, at Grand View Hospital.

Born in Ottumwa, Iowa, Erwin was the son of the late William Cameron Haines and the late Wilma (Rankin) Haines. He was the devoted husband of the late Anna Clara (Rosenberger) Haines, with whom he shared 48 years of marriage.

A graduate of North Penn High School, Class of 1963, Erwin built a career marked by dedication, hard work, and versatility. Throughout his life, he held positions with several local businesses, including a salesman at the former Endicott-Johnson Shoe Company in Quakertown, a production line worker at the former Hunter Spring Company in Hatfield, a mechanic for the former West Side Lawn Mower in Lansdale, truck driver and maintenance worker for John Evans Spring Company in Lansdale, and an assistant paint manager at the Estate of George S. Snyder in Hatfield. He concluded his working career as a paint manager at Fisher's Ace Hardware in Lansdale, where he faithfully served customers and colleagues for 22 years.

Erwin was a former member of Boy Scout Troop 229 in Colmar and was an active member with the Hatfield Museum and History Society. He was also a faithful member of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Hatfield.

A man of many interests, Erwin enjoyed tinkering and repairing small engines, collecting Ertl, Winross, and Hess trucks, and studying history. He was an avid fan of baseball and football, especially the Phillies. He treasured traveling and cruising with his daughter, visiting eight countries together, and particularly enjoyed day trips to Lancaster.

Those who knew Erwin will remember him as a hardworking, patient, kind-hearted, and sociable man. He was down-to-earth, possessed a wonderful sense of humor, and was known for his detailed storytelling and genuine interest in others.

Erwin is survived by his children, John M. Snyder and his wife, Christina, of Quakertown; Gwendolyn Ann Snyder and her husband, Keith, of Hatfield; and Pernell C. Haines and his companion, MaryAlice Miller, of Hatfield. He is also survived by his daughter-in-law, Carolyn Snyder of Lansdale; his seven grandchildren, Robert "Bobby" Peters of Souderton, PA , Daniel Snyder & wife, Sonia of Sellersville, PA, Jaclyn Harris & husband, Zachary of Abingdon, MD, Derek C. Haines & wife, Gabriella of Philadelphia, PA, Kira L. Curran & husband, Frank of Schwenksville, PA, John M. Snyder, Jr. of Quakertown, PA, Brittany L. Snyder & fiancé, Daniel Schneider of Lansdale, PA; his eight great-grandchildren, Riley and Logan Peters, Phineas Snyder, Tionna Harris, Frank IV, Finley, and Levi Curran, and Nevaeh Chew; and his brother, Larry Haines of Saint Petersburg, Florida.

In addition to his parents and beloved wife, Erwin was preceded in death by his son, George M. Snyder II; his grandson, George M. Snyder III; and his brothers, Allen Haines and David Haines.

Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Thursday, June 18, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Anders-Detweiler Funeral Home & Crematory, 130 E. Broad Street, Souderton, PA 18964. A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 11:00 a.m.
