Gebhard Wunderlich , 90, of Perkasie, PA, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, December 27, 2021 at Doylestown Hospital.

He was the loving husband of Elge (Knabe) Wunderlich for 64 years.  Gebhard was born in a small town called Urberach (now Rödermark) in Germany, to the late Friedrich and Margaret (Schwarzkopf) Wunderlich.  He was preceded in death by his older brother, Friedrich Wunderlich.  In addition to his wife, Gebhard is survived by their three sons Jeffrey, Scott and Mark, four grandchildren, Emilie, Kristie, Hannah, & Andrew; four great grandchildren, and by his younger siblings Gottfried Wunderlich and Elizabeth Gensert.

Gebhard emigrated to the United States from Germany, in 1951, arriving in New York City on his twentieth birthday.  After serving in the U.S. Army from 1952 to 1954, he later met and married Elge, who had emigrated to the United States exactly five years later, to the day.  The couple were married in in Queens, New York, in 1957.  He did not know it at the time, but Gebhard would later say that the real reason he had to come to America was to find the Lord.

Gebhard was trained as a draftsman and tool designer, and later progressed to manufacturing engineering.  Gebhard moved his family from Long Island, NY to Pennsylvania in 1964, when he was offered a position at the Kollsman plant in Dublin.  He later worked as an engineer at Teleflex Corporation in Lansdale, and at Gas Spring Corporation in Colmar, where he was the plant manager for several years.  He also worked at several smaller manufacturing businesses before retiring 35 years ago.

Gebhard was a faithful man who loved his family and respected his God.  He was a passionate man who had a great zeal for life.  When he became interested in something, it typically consumed him.  Gebhard had a great love of the outdoors, particularly evergreen trees, which he planted by the hundreds.  In his younger years, he took his sons on many wilderness camping trips in the northwoods.  In his later years, he enjoyed his large garden and taking care of his property.  Gebhard also played the violin and passed along his love of good music to his grandchildren, two of whom now play the violin through his influence.

Gebhard and Elge attended several area churches over the years, and he particularly enjoyed getting together with "the old timers."  For the last several years, he and Elge have been members of Community Baptist Church, in Coopersburg, PA.
