Gladys (Leatherman) Derstine , 84, of Kempton, PA passed away on Thursday, May 13, 2021 at her residence.

She was the loving wife of the late Darwin Derstine for 36 years. Gladys was born in Dublin, PA to the late Clayton and Anna (Leatherman) Detweiler.

A graduate of Pennridge High School class of 1954, she employed with a local bank as a teller.

She was a member of Grace Community Church, New Tripoli, PA, where she taught Sunday School and volunteered in many activities of the church.

A devoted mother and grandmother, Gladys assisted her late husband Darwin on the farm for over 30 years in Berks County. She was a breast cancer survivor for over 50 yrs. Gladys enjoyed gardening and attending her flower beds, basket making, bird feeding and bird watching.

She is survived by her three sons, Gary L. Derstine, his wife Stephanie of Kutztown, PA, Randy S. Derstine, his wife Julia of Kempton, PA and Jon D. Derstine, his wife Betsy of Mansfield, PA; her two daughters, Beverly Derstine , her husband Thomas Burleigh of Kempton, PA and Jodi L. Derstine of Telford, PA; her eleven grandchildren, Brandi, Todd, Linzi, Kristie, Sara, Tyler, Jordan, Andrew, Hannah, Nathan and Megan, her eight great-grandchildren, Riley, Peyton, Alivia, Madison, Deric, Ellison, Brandon and Margo; and her brother Marvin Detweiler of Dublin, PA.

A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, May 22, 2021 at 11:00 am at Deep Run Mennonite Church West, 1008 Deep Run Road, Perkasie, PA 18944. Friends may meet with the family from 10am to time of service.

Burial will take place at Deep Run Mennonite Cemetery West.
