Glenn D. Frederick , 84, of Gwynedd, PA, formerly of Chalfont, PA, passed away on Thursday, March 21, 2024 at Foulkeways at Gwynedd, after a lengthy and courageous battle with ALS.
He was the loving husband of Elizabeth (Derstine) Frederick for 63 years. Glenn was born in Souderton, PA to the late Mahlon M. Frederick and the late Katie F. (Derstein) Frederick.
Glenn was born and raised in Souderton, PA. He graduated from Christopher Dock Mennonite High School, Lansdale, PA class of 1957. He also graduated from Spring Garden Institute, Philadelphia, PA and attended Delaware Valley College, Doylestown, PA. After college, he worked at Philco-Ford before entering a voluntary service program with Elizabeth, sponsored by the Mennonite Central Committee. He worked at the Klamath-Trinity Hospital on the Hoopa Valley Indian Reservation in northwestern CA. Upon return from California, he returned to work at Philco-Ford until 1970.
From 1970-1999, Glenn was employed by Applied Materials, Inc. as a Field Engineer, Product Support Engineer, Product Specialist, and Project Manager for 28 years. Following his career at Applied Materials, he completed the Computer Network Technology course at the Computer Learning Center, Plymouth Meeting, PA. He worked at Siemans, Springhouse, PA, providing support and training for a statistical progress control software program until his retirement in 2009.
Glenn was the loving husband to Elizabeth (Betty), a devoted father, and loving grandfather.
Glenn's interests were computers, fishing, bird watching, and gardening. He enjoyed classical music and riding his power chair.
Glenn was an active member of Salford Mennonite Church. He served the church in various capacities over the years.
In addition to his wife, Elizabeth, he is survived by his son, Darryl Frederick & wife Lisa of Murphy, TX; his daughter, Lori Frederick-Imbrogulio of Bel Air, MD; his two grandchildren, Bryn and Bradley Frederick; his two brothers, Harold Frederick & wife Carole of Souderton, PA, Robert Frederick of Telford, PA; his sister, Rachel Leatherman & husband Richard of Souderton, PA.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son-in-law, James V. Imbrogulio, Jr.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, June 1, 2024 at Salford Mennonite Church, 480 Groff's Mill Road, Harleysville, PA 19438 from 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm, followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 2:00 pm.
