Gloria M. (Gordon) Battis , 86, of Lansdale, PA; formerly of Hatfield, Telford, & Philadelphia, PA went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 10, 2022 at St. Mary Center For Rehabilitation & Healthcare in Lansdale, PA.
She was the loving wife of the late William Henry Logan Battis for 12 years. Gloria was born in Philadelphia, PA to the late William Gordon, Sr. and the late Bessie Elizabeth (Gaskins) Gordon.
She attended Germantown High School prior to marrying her first husband, Richard Ward, with whom she shared 2 sons; Andino, and Vittorio.
Gloria's dedication to Christ and his teachings drove her passion to give back to her community. She Founded People In Action For Life, incorporated from 1991-1997, with the purpose of serving the elderly, sick, and imprisoned.
She was employed as an Executive Receptionist for Moore College of Art & Design, as well as Marks, Feinder, & Fridkin between 1988-1991, and a Savings Counselor with Liberty Federal Savings & Loan from 1983-1987.
She was a member of Montco Bible Fellowship.
She loved the Lord, loved reading the Bible, and had an excellent memory for scripture. She enjoyed singing, gospel, opera music, cooking, creative writing, and poetry. She looked forward to spending time with her family whenever she could.
Gloria was a vivacious, effervescent, glamorous, compassionate, resolute, and generous woman who had a good sense of humor and loved to laugh.
She is survived by her son, Andino R. Ward & wife, Amal of Telford, PA; her grandson, Andino A. Ward & wife, Jacqueline of Smithfield, NC; her two granddaughters, Sofia A. Cowan & husband, Cameron of Deltona, FL, Tatiana P. Ward of Telford, PA; her 11 great-grandchildren – Rhonda, Michael, Jr., Jordyn, Jada, Cameron, Madeline, Kingston, Ada, Evelyn, Caelen, & Myair; her brother, Ronny Gordon of Philadelphia, PA; her two sisters, Elaine Desymthe of Denver, CO, Jackie Gordon of Denver, CO.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Vittorio G. Ward; her grandson, Michael M. Ward; her three brothers, Billy, Bobby, & Raymond Gordon; and her sister, Doris Gordon.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the convenience of family.
