Obituary

Gordon R. Beidler , 97, of Souderton, PA; formerly of Bally, PA went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 9, 2025 at Souderton Mennonite Homes.

He was the loving husband of Velda May (Ledyard) Beidler for 73 years. Gordon was born in Bally, PA to the late Warren E. Beidler and the late Elizabeth P. (Reiter) Beidler.

He graduated from Boyertown High School in Boyertown, PA, class of 1945.

Gordon worked as a truck driver for the former Bally Case & Cooler in Bally, PA. He then worked as self-employed truck driver serving the Eastern United States. Gordon served in I-W service in the dietary department for Mont Alto Sanatorium in Pennsylvania. He then worked as truck driver for Roadway Express. Gordon was the owner and operator for a surplus butter processing plant in Oley, PA. He then drove truck for Matlack Pipeline on Wheels in Norristown, PA until retiring in 1991. After retiring, Gordon drove school bus for Quigley Bus Service in Bally, PA where he successfully trained over 100 school bus drivers.

He was a lifetime member of Bally Mennonite Church where he served as a longtime usher and song leader. Gordon was a longtime member of the Zion Choral Society for 51 years. He was a member of International Flying Farmers Association where he was the co-editor of their monthly newsletter. Gordon was also member of the Boyertown High School Music League.

During his I-W service, he also obtained his pilot's license. Gordon enjoyed flying with his wife who had her license as well. He loved traveling and called himself a 'professional tourist' because of his extensive time being on the road. During the late 1980's, Gordon learned to work on a computer. He loved music, singing, and playing the organ and piano.

Gordon was a hardworking, determined, caring man who enjoyed meeting people and loved a good conversation.

In addition to his wife, Velda, he is survived by his two brothers-in-law, Dale E. Ledyard of Wauseon, OH and Roger L. Ledyard & wife, Rosalyn of Lititz, PA; and his several nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, January 25, 2025 from 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm at Souderton Mennonite Homes, 207 W. Summit Street, Souderton, PA 18964, followed by a Celebration of Life service at 3:00 pm.

A private inurnment will take place at Bally Mennonite Cemetery.
