Obituary

H. Keith "Doc" Koehler , 71, of Telford, PA; formerly of Souderton, PA passed away on Saturday, March 23, 2024 at Elm Terrace Gardens in Lansdale, PA.

Keith was the loving husband of Mary M. (Holler) Koehler for 23 years. He was born in Sellersville, PA to the late Harold T. Koehler and the late Alice L. (Gehman) Koehler.

Keith graduated from Souderton Area High School, class of 1971. He was employed by the Souderton Borough for 45 years, retiring as a Waste Water Treatment Operator.

Keith was a life member of Zion Mennonite Church where he served as a former usher and videographer. He was a former active member of the Kiwanis Club in Souderton, PA, a former member of the Corvair Car Club in Allentown, PA, and a member of the Divco Club of America in Lowell, MI. He was also a former Umpire for various area baseball teams and a former volunteer with Meals on Wheels for Generations of Indian Valley.

Keith was passionate about trains and enjoyed taking train rides. He enjoyed going with his brother-in-law, Bob and his nephew, Jason to see the steam engine trains in Jim Thorpe. Keith loved going with his wife on cruises and dining out. He enjoyed going to baseball games and watching local sports teams especially the EAGLES.

Keith was a hardworking, honest, caring, laid-back man who had a great sense of humor.

In addition to his wife, Mary, he is survived by his son, David A. Fries & wife, Bushra of Whitehall, PA; his daughter, Katherine "Kathy" M. Gross of Fleetwood, PA; his two granddaughters, Mackenzie L. Gross of Fleetwood, PA, Kaitlyn M. Gross & companion, Reuben Duttweiler of Methuen, MA; his grandson, Robert D. Fries of Whitehall, PA; his sister, Jeanette Platt & husband, Robert of Lansdale, PA; his nephew, Jason Platt & wife, Roseanne of Hatfield, PA; his niece, Rhonda Pawling of Lansdale, PA; and two great-nieces – Ashley & Jenna Rose.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Jane Koehler.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 2, 2024 at Anders-Detweiler Funeral Home & Crematory, 130 East Broad Street, Souderton, PA from 10:00 am - 11:00 am, followed by a Celebration of Life service at 11:00 am. The service will be livestreamed.

Inurnment will take place at Zion Memorial Gardens.
