Harvey M. Kemmerer , 87, of Telford, PA went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 1, 2020 at his residence.
He was the loving husband of the late LaVerne Irene (Holmes) Kemmerer for 64 years. Harvey was born in Franconia TWP, Pennsylvania to the late John H. Kemmerer and the late Sallie (Musselman) Kemmerer.
He served our country in Alternative Service with 1-W in Woodville State Hospital in Woodville, PA and during this time he met his future wife at a local church. Harvey was employed as a machinist for the former American Olean Tile Company in Lansdale, PA for more than 30 years. He then worked for the former Gasboy International in Lansdale and as a cafeteria attendant for Unisys Corporation in Blue Bell, PA.
Harvey was a former member of Calvary Church of Souderton and a longtime member of Pennridge Christian Fellowship in Blooming Glen, PA where he served as an elder, deacon, Sunday school teacher, youth group leader, and worship leader. He loved the church and served in many capacities including sermons, Bible studies, and Christmas plays.
Harvey loved the holidays and enjoyed cooking and giving gifts to everyone in the family. For 13 years, he was active in helping to home school his grandchildren. He loved dogs, especially his Papillon, Misty.
In his spare time, Harvey enjoyed vegetable gardening, canning, working outdoors, reflexology, and playing the accordion and the organ. He loved writing poetry, writing to congressmen and elected officials, and letters to editor.
Harvey was a quiet inventor who had creative ideas on renewable energy, exercise equipment, and his own tile design.
He will be remembered as a Godly, humble, gentle, caring and compassionate man. Harvey was hardworking, peaceful and had a fun sense of humor.
He is survived by his daughter, Judy Berger & husband, Robert of Sellersville, PA; his son, Dale Kemmerer & wife, Susan of Telford, PA; his 14 grandchildren; his 29 great-grandchildren; his seven great-great-grandchildren; and his sister, Irene Moyer of Harleysville, PA.
In addition to his parents and wife, Harvey was preceded in death by his infant son, Donald Ray Kemmerer; his three brothers, Warren, John, & Harold Kemmerer; and his two sisters, Eleanor Silbert & Arlene Krout.
A viewing will be held on Saturday, December 5, 2020 at Pennridge Christian Fellowship, 720 Blooming Glen Road, Blooming Glen, PA 18911 from 10:00 am - 11:00 am, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 am.
Burial will take place at Zion Memorial Gardens.
