Harvey Edwin Meyers, 94, of Telford, PA; formerly of Sellersville, PA went home to be with the Lord on Saturday June 17, 2023 at the Lutheran Community at Telford.
He was the loving husband of Anna (Alderfer) Meyers for 72 years. Harvey was born in Abington, PA to the late Abraham M. Meyers and the late Katie (Detweiler) Meyers.
Following the passing of his mother, during his 8th month of life, he was raised by his father as well as his paternal grandparents, Edwin & Elizabeth Myers and his great-aunt, Anna M. Meyers.
Harvey graduated from Sell-Perk High School, class of 1947. He was employed as a custom wood worker for the former Doylestown Lumber & Millwork for 28 years, Woodrite for 4 years, and the Nyce Planning Mill Company for 22 years. Harvey assisted his dad as a door-to-door Mity-Nice bread salesman every Saturday for 25 years. He taught adult evening school at Middle Bucks Tech School (28 years) with close to a total of 1000 students.
Harvey was a member of the PA Dutch Grundsow Lodge #9 in Dublin Pa where he served on the "Die Ombtsleit" board as Secretary for 18 years. He attended and was an active member at Deep Run East Mennonite Church his entire life. Harvey and another church member made the church pews and millwork for the current sanctuary. He helped build the first church kitchen, mailboxes for the members, did most of the custom woodwork in the current kitchen along with many other woodworking projects for the church. During his time as trustee, Harvey helped improve various aspects of the church such as the installation of water fountains. He was a church usher for 63 years welcoming everyone who entered the front doors. He also was a youth leader and through the years organized many banquets and outings for his Sunday school class.
Harvey was very devoted to his wife and family and loved spending time with them. He was a Christian man who spent time in daily prayer for his family and many others and truly loved God and his church. He was an outgoing and friendly person with a kind, generous spirit who loved people and enjoyed helping anyone whenever he could. Harvey and his wife, Ann, enjoyed travel which included trips to Europe, Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico and in North America.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Wendy L. Delp & husband, Alan of Souderton, PA; his son, Garland L. Meyers & wife, Joan of Schwenksville, PA; his two granddaughters, Katelyn M. Gross & husband, Ryan of Perkasie, PA, Alicia M. Myers & husband, Bert of Perkasie, PA; his six great-grandchildren – Dylan, Olivia, Brayden, Mason, Molly, & Kayleigh; his step-grandson, Benjamen A. Delp & wife, Grace of Marietta, PA; and his four step-great-grandchildren – Naisa, Yonah, Judah, & Yasha.
In addition to his parents, Harvey was preceded in death by his daughter-in-law, Janice (Martin) Meyers.
A viewing will be held on Friday, June 23, 2023 at Deep Run Mennonite Church East, 350 Kellers Church Road, Perkasie, Pennsylvania 18944 from 4:30 pm - 6:30 pm, followed by a funeral service at 7:00 pm. The service will be livestreamed at www.deepruneast.org.
A private burial will take place at Deep Run Mennonite Cemetery East.
