Harvey S.
Shoemaker
Mar 2, 1931 — May 10, 2026
Harvey S. Shoemaker , 95, of Souderton, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, May 10, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.
He was the devoted husband of Lorraine (Leidy) Shoemaker for 69 years. Born in Franconia Township, Pennsylvania, Harvey was the son of the late Jonas Shoemaker and the late Lizzie (Smith) Shoemaker.
Harvey graduated from the Franconia Township School District in June 1946. He first worked on his family's dairy farm, Shoemaker Dairy, before serving his country in the United States Army while stationed in Germany. After returning home, Harvey worked as a carpenter for Olin Leidy Carpentry and later became self-employed, operating Harvey Shoemaker Carpentry in Souderton from 1985 until his retirement in 2010.
A lifelong member of Immanuel Leidy's Church, Harvey was a faithful servant of Jesus Christ who deeply loved his church family. Over the years, he faithfully served as both deacon and elder and generously shared his carpentry talents through numerous church projects and Stormer Lake mission trips.
Harvey was also a proud member of the National Rifle Association and bowled in the Monday Night Earl Bowl League in Earlington for more than 30 years.
He especially enjoyed hunting and fishing trips to Potter County with his sons and grandsons. In the summer, Harvey found great joy in gardening and sharing his homegrown produce with family and friends. During the winter months, he was often found cracking hickory nuts to share with those he loved.
Above all else, Harvey was deeply devoted to his family. He treasured time spent with his grandchildren—cheering them on at sporting events, vacationing together at the beach and in the mountains, grilling hot dogs in the fireplace, and never allowing them to win at backyard croquet. He will be remembered as a hardworking, generous, loving, and faithful Christian man whose life reflected his deep faith and commitment to others.
In addition to his beloved wife, Lorraine, Harvey is survived by his two sons, Rodney Lee Shoemaker and wife, Yvonne of Telford, PA, and Brian Scott Shoemaker and wife, Gina of Harleysville, PA; five grandchildren, Landon & wife, Lisa; Ethan & companion, Ashley; Olivia & husband, Andrew; Jacob & wife, Laura; and Samuel & fiancé, Marissa; and four great-grandchildren, Ava, Brayden, Dalton, and Henry.
In addition to his parents, Harvey was preceded in death by his seven siblings: Abram Shoemaker, Curtis Shoemaker, Harry Shoemaker, Linford Shoemaker, Gertrude Cordero, Betty Westphall, and Ella May Shoemaker.
A visitation will be held on Monday, May 18, 2026, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Immanuel Leidy's Church, 273 W. Cherry Lane, Souderton, PA 18964, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m.
A private burial will take place at Immanuel Leidy's Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Good Samaritan Fund c/o Immanuel Leidy's Church, 273 W. Cherry Lane, Souderton, PA 18964.
