Hazel Detwiler Bowers of Telford, PA, formerly of Camp Hill, PA, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 13, 2022 at the Lutheran Community at Telford.

Hazel was born in Marion, PA, on April 6, 1919 to John and Blanche Detwiler.

She was a graduate of Gettysburg College and a member of Chi Omega Sorority.  During WWII, Hazel was serving in the American Red Cross when she reconnected with her future husband, Joseph S. Bowers, a former classmate who was in the military.

As an Air Force wife, Hazel had the opportunity to reside in various states as well as in England where she acquired a love of antique shopping.  She was also an avid bridge player and golfer.

Hazel was preceded in death by Lt. Col. Joseph S. Bowers, her husband of 49 years, and her sister Grace D. Mock of LaMesa, CA.  She is survived by her four children, Linda Husted (Jim), of Harleysville, PA, Nancy Wolfe of Plantation, FL, Sara Bowers of Boulder, CO, and John Bowers (Jennifer) of Mt. Airy, MD.  She is also survived by five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Hazel will be fondly remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend who possessed a joyful spirit and a zest for life.

Services will be held at the convenience of the family.
