Obituary

Helen (Manherz) Kendra , 87, of Sellersville, PA passed away on Friday, July 24, 2020 at her home.

She was the loving wife of the late Raymond "Tony" Kendra for 39 years. Helen was born in Lansdale, PA to the late John Thomas Manherz and the late Edna Erbb (Dettra) Manherz.

She graduated from Lansdale High School. Helen spent most of her working career as a bus driver for Pennridge School District, along with the family business, Precision Weight Scale Company (now Precision Solutions Inc. in Quakertown).

She was a member of the Pennridge Senior Center in Silverdale, PA and volunteered with Meals on Wheels in Souderton. Helen was a member of St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church for many years.

She led several bands, calling square dances and yodeling to the delight of listeners around the area.  Helen enjoyed crocheting, her grandchildren, and copious games of 500 Rummy and Hand and Foot in her later years.  She lived for 64 years at her residence on Rickert Rd that she and her husband built.  She enjoyed traveling both in the United States and internationally.  Helen will be fondly remembered for her infectious laugh, her role as "Grandma's Taxi Service," and her ability to outfit friends and relatives in countless scarves and hats.

She is survived by her two sons, Steven Anthony Kendra & wife, Judy of Sellersville, PA, Daniel Andrew Kendra & wife, Adele of Sellersville, PA; her four grandchildren – Jessica, Daniel, Taylor, & Arianna; her great-granddaughter – Eleanor; her brother-in-law, Walter Kendra in Collinsville, CT; and her many nephews and nieces; all of whom she loved deeply.

In addition to her parents and husband, Helen was preceded in death by her brother, Edward Manherz and her sister, Joy Manherz.

There will be a private family gathering to honor her memory.

Inurnment will take place at St. Peter's Union Cemetery in Hilltown, PA.
