James D. Fitzgerald, Sr. , 87, of Spring City, formerly of Souderton, PA went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 18, 2022 at Southeastern Veterans Center in Spring City, PA.

He was born in Trenton, New Jersey to the late Charles W. Sr. Fitzgerald and the late Helen (Carr) Fitzgerald.

James was employed as a machinist for Brooks Instrument in Hatfield for 30 years. He served with the United States Army in the Korean Conflict, became a POW and was a Purple Heart recipient.

James was an attender of Immanuel Leidy's Church in Souderton and a former member of Living Faith Fellowship in Harleysville, PA.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, going to Kempton Music Concerts, and listening to his record collection.

James is survived by his sons, James D. Fitzgerald, Jr. and wife, Margaret of Riegelsville, PA and Sherwood Roth and wife, Gladys of Souderton, PA; his grandchildren, James III, Christine, Tiffany, Danielle, Tyler, Hezekiah, and Anthony; his eight great-grandchildren, Abigail, Hunter, Cooper, Josiah, Aubrey, Riley and Fareed; his brothers, Paul W. Fitzgerald and wife, Wilma of OK and Stanley Fitzgerald of New York State.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Sally (Rickerd) Fitzgerald and a son, Randy Fitzgerald.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 5, 2022 at 11:00 am at Anders-Detweiler Funeral Home & Crematory, 130 E. Broad St., Souderton, PA 18964 where friends may meet with the family from 10:00 am to 11:00 am.

Burial will take place at Rockhill Mennonite Cemetery.
