James "Jim" Michael Hurley , 82, of Sellersville, PA; formerly of Chalfont, PA passed away on Wednesday, September 4, 2024 at Grand View Hospital.
Jim was the loving husband of Cathy (Williams) Hurley for 48 years. He was born in Cork City, Ireland to the late Daniel Hurley and the late Ann (Gouldsbury) Hurley.
Jim graduated from Blackwood Seminary in Blackwood, NJ, class of 1958. He then graduated from Catholic University in Washington DC, class of 1964 with a bachelor's degree in philosophy.
Jim worked as a priest in Blackwood, NJ. He then transitioned to ministry at the former Hope House in Willow Grove, PA. After starting his family, Jim worked as a painter/contractor in the Bucks County area. To spend more time with his wife Cathy, he became a painter for Grand View Hospital in Sellersville, PA.
Jim was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Telford where he served as an assisting minister and lector. While his children were playing soccer; he was very active with the former Lenape Valley Soccer Club, eventually becoming the President. After his retirement, Jim volunteered in the joint center for Grand View Hospital for 5 years.
Jim loved the New York Giants and Yankees. In his spare time, he was an avid reader of mysteries and enjoyed playing Solitaire. Jim always looked forward to his family trips to Sea Isle City, NJ where he loved relaxing on the beach and spending time with his family and close friends.
Jim was a hardworking, passionate, giving, selfless man who was an active listener to all and always supportive of his family and friends.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his two sons, Tim Hurley & wife, Beth of Ludlow, MA, Mickey Hurley & wife, Valerie of Telford, PA; his daughter, Maggie Savarese & husband, John of Perkasie, PA; his seven grandchildren – Cameron, Max, Anna, Coleen, Kahlan, James, & Victoria; and his brother, John Hurley & wife, Linda of Spring Lake, NJ.
In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his four brothers, Donald, Joseph, Richard, & Lawrence Hurley.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, September 14, 2024 from 9:00 am – 11:00 am at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 107 W. Lincoln Ave., Telford, PA 18969, followed by a memorial service at 11:00 am.
A private inurnment will take place at St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery.
