Jessie L. (Covalt) Dumire , 103, of Sellersville, PA; formerly of Doylestown, PA went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, September 24, 2024 at The Community at Rockhill.
Jessie was the loving wife of the late Alvin I. Dumire for 60 years. She was born in Needmore, PA to the late Elmer T. Covalt and the late Nellie (Bottenfield) Covalt.
Jessie graduated valedictorian from Warfordsburg High School in Warfordsburg, PA, class of 1939. Soon after graduation, she worked as a Rosie the Riveter for Fairchild Aircraft during WWII. She later worked as a bookkeeper for her late husband's business, Al Dumire Electrician, of Doylestown, PA.
Jessie was a lifetime member of Hilltown Baptist Church for over 80 years. Through the church, she helped make bandages with the White Cross ministries.
Jessie enjoyed gardening, cooking, making her famous apple dumplings and oatmeal cookies. She loved long walks on the beach especially at Long Beach Island, NJ. She enjoyed traveling nationally and going on cruises.
Jessie was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a soft-spoken lady who was very Godly and possessed the fruits of the spirit. "Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her." - Proverbs 31:28 (KJV)
Jessie is survived by her daughter, Lee Anne McCormick of Hatboro, PA; her son, Thomas Dumire & wife, Cyndy of Perkasie, PA; her five grandchildren – Mark Allebach & wife, Kristina of Black Mountain, NC, Julie Dees & wife, Jessica Gulash of Bala Cynwyd, PA, Bobbi Shaw & husband, Zach of Quakertown, PA, Jon Dumire of Perkasie, PA; Chrissy Vensel & husband, Justin of Southington, CT; her eight great-grandchildren – Dani Dees of Boston, MA, Luke Dees of Wilmington, DE, Josh Shaw of Quakertown, PA, Jordan Shaw of Quakertown, PA, Ethan Shaw of Quakertown, PA, Robert Shaw of Quakertown, PA, Bay Allebach of Black Mountain, NC, Cici Allebach of Black Mountain, NC; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her seven siblings – Lynn, Merrill, John, Mary, Mark, Ruth, and Billie Jeanne.
A private burial will take place at Hilltown Baptist Church Cemetery.
