Joan M. (Dyson) Dahl , 92, of Telford, PA; formerly of Plumsteadville, PA passed away on Wednesday, October 20, 2021 at her residence.
She was the loving wife of the late Stanley T. Dahl for 43 years. Joan was born in Philadelphia, PA to the late Harry Russell Dyson and the late Anna (Bare) Dyson.
She graduated from Murrell Dobbins Vocational-Technical School, Philadelphia, class of 1947.
Joan was a self-employed porcelain artist in the Philadelphia area for 45 years. Prior to that, she worked as a service representative for the former Bell Telephone of Pennsylvania in Jenkintown. Joan was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother.
She was a bright, talented, driven, determined, caring woman who had a good sense of humor and was religiously devout.
Joan was an award winning member of the Doylestown Art League. She was an active member of the Presbyterian Church of Deep Run where she served as a Sunday school teacher, a Bible school organizer and teacher, sang in the church choir for over 50 years and was part of the bell choir. Joan was also one of the organizers and artist of the church's Festival of the Arts in the 1970s.
She was an active volunteer at the Lutheran Community at Telford where she helped run their gift shop, was part of the theater group, and sang in the choir.
Joan loved baseball and was a lifelong fan of the Philadelphia Phillies. She enjoyed various crafts such as knitting and embroidery. She also enjoyed reading historical books.
Joan is survived by her two sons, Dr. Robert T. Matthews of Brentwood, TN, Richard W. Matthews & wife, Susan of Vernon, NJ; her daughter, Cynthia J. Ohrberg & husband, Roy of Quakertown, PA; her two step-sons, Stanley T. Dahl, Jr. & wife, Sandra of The Villages, FL, Jeffrey L. Dahl & wife, Patricia of Blackwood, NJ; her step-daughter-in-law, Victoria Dahl of Louisville, KY; her 13 grandchildren – Anna, Evan, Emma, Carl, Stacy, Shelly, Sheri, Jonathan, Christina, Milton, Jennifer, Angela, & Marcus; her 20 great-grandchildren – Bonnie, Diana, Alexander, Ashley, Zane, Sam, Josh, Adam, Owen, Gabriel, Olivia, Evan, Elias, Kaelyn, Cara, Drew, Nicholas, Vincent, Brooklyn, & Victor; her great-great-grandson – Liam; her sister, Lois Furry of Huntington Valley PA; and her lifelong friend of 80 years, Roberta "Bobbie" Matthews of Plano, TX.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her step-son, Thomas W. Dahl.
Burial will take place at Presbyterian Church of Deep Run Cemetery.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 11, 2021 at 11:00 am at Presbyterian Church of Deep Run, 16 Irish Meetinghouse Rd (Route 113 & Elephant Road), Perkasie, Pennsylvania 18944. The church asks that all attendees wear a mask while inside the church.
