John “Rock” P. Carsello, 93, of Telford, Pennsylvania, Palm City, Florida and Port St. Lucie, Florida, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, at his residence.
He was the loving husband of Carol Diane (Collins) Carsello, with whom he shared 48 years of marriage.
Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, John was the son of the late Rocco Vincent Carsello and the late Maria “Mary” Ripalda (Carsello) Carsello.
He was a graduate of Murrell Dobbins Career and Technical Education High School in Philadelphia, Class of 1950. He went on to graduate from Villanova University in 1962 with a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
John proudly served in the United States Navy aboard the USS Midway, where he also played baseball. His love of baseball continued throughout his life, including time playing for a Phillies farm team.
Following his military service, John built a successful career as an engineer and entrepreneur. He worked as a design engineer for the former Leeds & Northrup in North Wales, Pennsylvania, and later as a design engineer for Lutron Electronics in the Lehigh Valley. He subsequently became self-employed and served as President of Thyrocon Controls Corp. in Telford, Pennsylvania, for more than 10 years.
John was active in his community and was a member of the Souderton-Telford Rotary Club, Shiloh-MacCalla Lodge No. 558 F. & A.M. in Souderton, and Calvary Church in Souderton.
A man of many interests and passions, John was an avid golfer and skier and had a lifelong love of aviation. He was a licensed pilot and also enjoyed sailing, high-end sports cars, and traveling throughout the United States and internationally. He embraced life with enthusiasm and a spirit of adventure.
John will be remembered as a hardworking, intelligent, generous, and adventurous man who was a natural leader and deeply devoted to his family. His curiosity, determination, and zest for life touched many people throughout his long and remarkable life.
In addition to his wife, Carol, John is survived by his two daughters, Lisa Marie Vargo of Doylestown, PA, and Carolyn Diane Herman and her husband, James “Jim,” of Telford, PA; his granddaughters, Dana E. Jacob and her husband, Kyle, of Chalfont, PA, Paige L. Vargo of Doylestown, PA, and Abigail E. Herman of Telford, PA; his grandson, Andrew J. Herman of Telford, PA; and his great-granddaughter, Natalie J. Jacob of Chalfont, PA.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Vincent Carsello, and his sister, Rita McClennen.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
