John R. Detweiler , 68, of Harleysville, PA passed away on Thursday, May 15, 2025 at his residence.
John was the loving husband of Kathy A. (Miller) Detweiler for 44 years. He was born in Sellersville, PA to the late Richard Detweiler and the late Mary Jane (Rudy) Detweiler.
John graduated from Christopher Dock Mennonite High School in Lansdale, PA, class of 1975. He then attended Goshen College in Goshen, IN.
John worked as a superintendent for the former Mast Contractors in Harleysville, PA and then for Haines & Kibblehouse in Skippack, PA. He was most recently employed as an estimator for Ram Construction in Skippack, PA for 11 years.
John was a member of Salford Mennonite Church in Harleysville, PA.
He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, and being on his boat. He was an avid reader and enjoyed yard work and planting in his garden. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren,
John was a hardworking, honest, kind man who saw the best in everyone he met.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his two sons, Zachary M. Detweiler & wife, Stacey of Campbell, CA, Eli M. Detweiler & wife, Tara of Chesapeake, VA; his three grandsons, Marshall M. Detweiler of Campbell, CA, Whitney W. Detweiler of Campbell, CA, Eli M. Detweiler, Jr. of Chesapeake, VA; and his two sisters, Donna Detweiler of Albuquerque, NM and Ann Detweiler of Monmouth, OR.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Jeff Books.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, May 24, 2025 from 9:30 am - 11:00 am at Salford Mennonite Church, 480 Groff's Mill Road, Harleysville, PA 19438, followed by a memorial service at 11:00 am.
