John George Hitchner IV , 79, of Perkasie, PA; formerly of Newtown PA passed away on Friday, June 16, 2023 at his residence.
He was the loving husband of Joyce Jennings Hitchner for 39 years. John was born in Woodbury, NJ to the late Curtis Merlin Hitchner and the late Mildred Berry Hitchner.
John graduated from Pitman High School in Pitman, NJ, class of 1962. He also attended Rutgers University of Camden, NJ. John established the drapery installation business known as John's Hangups, where he worked as the owner for over 40 years.
He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints of Souderton and Morrisville, PA wards.
John was a devoted scout leader for the Boy Scouts of America for over 50 years. John was also a member of the Academy of Model Aeronautics of Mercer and Bucks County.
Throughout his life, John enjoyed flying model airplanes, serving his community, spending time with his family, and traveling throughout the country, especially to Vermont and Niagara Falls. He was also known to enjoy dancing and singing as well as performing as a DJ. John was a devoted husband that loved spending time with his wife, Joyce. Together, they would sing, travel and participate in numerous church callings, such as teaching the youth of the church. He was known to be extremely handy and was able to build anything he set his mind to.
John will be remembered as a loving, caring, compassionate, hard worker that always found a way to stay positive and in high spirits, even during the most difficult of times.
He was adored by all, especially his beloved wife Joyce. .
John is survived by his three sisters-in-laws, Gayle McCormack of Hamilton Square, NJ, Jeanne Jennings Picardi and husband, Joe of Smithville, NJ, and Kay Hitchner of Toledo, OH, wife of the late Curtis Hitchner; his brother-in-law, Jack W and wife, Marcie, of Morrisville, PA his three Sons, Scott Hitchner and spouse, Josette of Beverly, NJ, Keith Hitchner and wife, Sara of Philadelphia, PA, Bradley Hitchner and wife, Holly of Maple Shade, NJ and his two daughters, Sandra Clifford and husband, William of Riverside, NJ, and Rebecca Baker and husband, Kevin of Marlton, NJ; his Step-daughter, Sandra Hartline and husband John Michael Cheatham of Burnet, TX; his 20 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
A viewing service will be held on Saturday, June 24, 2023 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Morrisville ward, 1204 Pine Grove Rd, Yardley, PA, 19067 at 1:00 pm, immediately followed by a funeral service at 2:00 pm.
Burial will take place at Greenwood Cemetery, 1800 Hamilton Ave, Hamilton Township, NJ 08619 on June 24, 2023 at 5:00 pm.
