John Morton Kerns , 84, of Blooming Glen, PA entered into rest on Friday, April 1, 2022 at Grand View Hospital, Sellersville, PA.
He was the loving husband of Ernestine "Ellie" (Love) Kerns for 43 years. John was born in Lansdale, PA to the late Clarence and Mary (Miller) Kerns.
A graduate of Central Bucks High School in 1956, John proudly served his country as a Corporal in the United States Marine Corps.
He was employed as a Professional Truck Driver for Keller's Creamery, Harleysville, PA for 25 years, retiring in 2000.
John was a member of the Silverdale Brethren in Christ Church, where he served as an usher and assisted with the maintenance of the grounds. He was also a proud member of the NRA.
John was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He enjoyed farming, growing vegetables, hunting and fishing. John will also be remembered as a handyman, who could fix anything. He and his wife Ellie enjoyed traveling throughout most of North America. John was a pilot, having part ownership of an airplane which was kept at the Quakertown Airport.
In addition to his wife Ellie, he is survived by his sons, Daniel Morton Kerns and wife Diane of Baileyville, ME, Dwane Kerns and wife Suzanne of Wyomissing, PA, and step-son William Howden and wife Kim of Lakewood, CO; his daughter, Darlene Miller of Summit Hill PA, and his two step-daughters Laurie Teter and fiancé, David Heifet of Ocala, FL, and Diane R. Reiss of Sellersville, PA; his two sisters, Ann Transue of Sellersville, PA, Sandy Amey and husband Doug of Sellersville, PA; his brother William Kerns and wife Michelle of Orlando, FL; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his two step-daughters, Debbie Smith and Tricia Aldridge, his brother, George Kerns, and his sister, Mary Fretz.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Monday, April 25, 2022 at 11:00 am at Silverdale Brethren in Christ Church, 165 W. Main Street, Silverdale, PA 18962 where friends may meet with the family from 10:00 am to 11:00 am
Burial will take place at Washington Crossing National Cemetery, Newtown, PA.
