John Nelson Moyer , 92, of Souderton, PA; formerly of Penns Park, PA went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 17, 2024 at Souderton Mennonite Homes.

John was the loving husband of Sara Faye (Ochs) Moyer for 68 years. He was born in Riegelsville, PA to the late Nelson N. Moyer and the late Martha (Gehman) Moyer.

John graduated from Easton High School, class of 1950.

He worked as a mechanic for the former Histand's Equipment in Doylestown, PA. John was then employed as a design draftsman for the former HMS Associates in Willow Grove, PA for 40 years. He then worked as a design draftsman for the former Ralph James in Pennsylvania.

John was a life member of Doylestown Mennonite Church where he served as a MYF leader, a deacon/trustee, and taught Sunday school. He volunteered with Mennonite Disaster Services, the jail ministry/visitation, and at Spruce Lake Retreat where he was a cook.

John loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He loved the farm that he grew up on and it was very important to him. John enjoyed farming, gardening, pruning trees, dogs, riding motorcycles, canoeing, and camping. He belonged to the Willow Grove bowling league.

John was a content, joyful, considerate, kind man who was an encourager, a prayer warrior, a peacemaker, and a mentor to others.  His grandchildren remember him as being solid, gentle, stalwart, genuine, and caring.

In addition to his wife, Sara, he is survived by his two sons, Dr. David J. Moyer & companion, Sarah Starbird of Poland, ME, Dr. Robin N. Moyer & wife, Mari Anne of Chewelah, WA; his nine grandchildren – Tara, JD, Adam, Bethany, Luke, Micah, Jesse, Ben, & Grace; his eight great-grandchildren – Chelsei, Oliver, Silas, Andre, Amelei, Ave, Autumn, & Brielle; and his three siblings, Grace Yoder & husband, Gordon of Chambersburg, PA, Brother, Edwin Moyer & wife, Palma of Quakertown, PA, and Beulah Walters of Mechanicsburg, PA.

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his brother, Daniel Moyer.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 8, 2025 at 11:00 am at Doylestown Mennonite Church, 590 N. Broad St., Doylestown, PA 18901, followed by an informal visitation.

A private inurnment will take place at Doylestown Mennonite Cemetery.
