She was the beloved wife of the late Howard E. Maffin, with whom she shared 59 years of devoted marriage.
Born in Hamburg, IL, Joyce was the daughter of the late George Emerick and Louise (Heil) Emerick. She graduated from Griggsville High School in Griggsville, IL, with the class of 1949.

She was actively involved in every community she was part of and served faithfully in several churches over the years. A former Girl Scout Leader in Flint, MI, Joyce was passionate about mentoring young people.
Joyce was known for her warm spirit, independent nature, and her unmistakable, joyful laugh. She enjoyed quilting, bird watching, flower gardening, and was an avid reader of paperback novels. In her younger years, she shared a love of distance running with her husband. Above all, she was a devoted wife, loving mother, proud grandmother, and great-grandmother.
